Colorado Trail, Desert Southwest (CO,AZ,UT,NM), Trip Reports » CTR 2011 Video

Below is a link to some video footage that I shot while racing the CTR this year.  Hopefully it will spark memories, or stoke your curiosity.  The race was harder than I could have imagined. Yet, with something like 5 weeks having now past, the pain is a distant memory, and I am already plotting my next CTR.  Thanks to all the great folks I met out on the trail I hope we cross paths again.

I really liked this.

Nice video. A good example of exactly why we need more flexible sole cycle shoes too.

Very nice. The views from the trail along ridgelines are incredible.

Great video of an even greater trail! Well done. I’m the thru-hiker that you met while pre-riding near Twin Lakes, then again during CTR between Molas and Bolam. I’m hoping to throw my lot in with the self-induced suffering crew and race next summer. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks guys!
Fritz, I remember you, how did your Leadville 100 go? If you do CTR next year, you may have the most epic back to back summers ever. I hope to see you at the start next year.

Leadville was a great day on the bike. Since it was my first race of any sort, I just wanted to finish it, and I got my wish with twenty-five seconds to spare (11:59:35)! There was a bit too much pavement for my tastes, but it was a fun ride nonetheless. I think I’ll try to get in again when I’m older and more race-savvy.

(To any other LT100 2011 riders, I was on a full rigid with a frame pack and T-rex squeaky horn).

Wow! I’m late to the game here. I just saw this video. I’ve tried pretty hard to explain to my wife, family and friends the beauty and difficulty of the CTR, but words and photos don’t do it justice. This is probably the best video that I have seen in terms of depicting those things. Thanks a lot! I really enjoyed it!

Thanks for posting. It is moving up the cue on my bucket list…. but at a touring pace. I respect the hell out you CTR racers. Kudos.

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it. I have a ton more footage, so hopefully some day soon I can find the time to pull another one together. Jerry, congrats on your 5 day finish, well done –

Thanks, Pete. You did a helluva job on that video. Are you getting after it again this year?

PeteShoeFebruary 15th, 2012 at 10:25 pm

Yeah I’ll be there for sure. I wish it started tomorrow. I need to pick up skiing I think. How about you?
