Is this a race race or something you can do whenever you like? I'm interested but from what you guys say, the lack of singletrack may be annoying on a FS 26er.

It's the Trans North Georgia Adventure ride, but people race it.  You can do it anytime you want...right now would be bitter cold but doable.

Lack of singletrack? It's almost all singletrack.  Gravel grinder it is not.

Kikoraa: I think it's a really well-rounded race in terms of terrain. Personally I think it's tailor made for a hardtail 29er but there's definitely enough singletrack and doubletrack to justify a FS. The first half of the race is mostly a 50/50 combination of gravel roads (30%), doubletrack (30%), paved roads (20%) and singletrack (10%). You'll be happy you have the FS on Stanley Gap and Hickory Nut. You'll hate life on Hogpen Gap and the climb up Tray Mountain. The second half of the race you're on the Pinhoti Trail. Except for one 30-mile road section and the final wee bit, you're almost exclusively on singletrack or narrow doubletrack, and for at least 8 particular miles you'll be super happy with the FS ;-)

I'm in the process of buildig an SS HT and getting a steel frame specifically with rack braze-ons and the ability to run gears. Want a surlyKM but finances are looking like I'm getting the on-one inbred. Both seem to be solid bikes with the km having a cult following. It will be a while before I attempt this. Hope to try it fall of this year or spring of next!

I'll be out there on a single this year. Thinking either 34x21 or 34x22 but from the way driftwood talks 34x20 might be a more viable option.  Should be pretty painful/fun. Looking forward to it. Do the front runners carry any sleeping gear?

All 35 spots filled in less than 24 hours. I'm definitely waitlisting. If I don't get in I'm gonna just run an ITT.

Just got reply from David Muse that they've received my registration and I am on the wait list. Unfortunately, I do not know my position on said list. He said chances were pretty good that I'd get in though.

Hi all,
Anyone have cue sheets to share ?  Or will the website links become available again soon.  Also question to the race vet's, what GPS worked best for you during this adventure.   icon_scratch

I used it an edge, it was wonderful except that my route kept messing up.  I now have an Etex Oregon, and while it does chew through some batteries - I like that I CAN use batteries in it

I'm in... still on the fence on what weapon I'll be riding.  I'm using this event as training for ITI to McGrath in 2014.   I've done some riding in the Ellijay, GA  area, so I have mad respect for Georgia riding. Much things to consider.

Man I hope you get out there and take some pictures.  That would be cool of you.  Also you can  cheer us on, say mean things to get the blood flowing..    You coming up to Michigan for Barry ?

Does anyone rent Spot's for this event?   icon_rr   Or should I just purchase my own?
Thanks

you'll need to contact Dave Muse about that, they have spots for rent - if you're "in" I think there's an email that goes out about that.

also - can't make it to Barry this year, with the onslaught of the divide here I've got several miles I'm trying to accomplish and taking a long weekend out would kill me Sad

I'm in, but not for the race. Too close to the SM100 which is my big race this year. Going to hit it some time in June/July and plan for a 3 day fun/adventure vs the race.

Just throwing this out there...especially for riders who didn't get in.

As of now it looks myself and another 2-3 riders from Knoxville are planning on a TNGA ITT starting Sat Aug 17( 1 week before "Official" start).

Looking to do a sub 70 hr finish.
