Thanks for this. I'll take a look but it seems we are on the same track and speed.

#4? C-store @ 253 miles may miss this one due to timing closes at 11 pm opens at 6 am (Estimated arrival – 1 am 21 hrs)

Pretty good estimate on this one. Had we not had to stop for storm cover...

Congrats on finishing Steve. Did you end up carrying anything more than a jacket to handle the weather?

Certainly was a awesome first time event for me. I might be back if I can lower my expectations but I know the fun is there.

Thanks!! I ended up bringing my rain pants since they were negligible in pack size and weight. Instead of shoe covers, I went with a pair of sealskin waterproof socks over a pair of wool cycling socks. All of my rain gear ended up getting used more for insulation than keeping dry. We missed the worst of the storms by taking cover. I think we rode about 5 minutes in the rain in total, and that was after the worst of the weather had gone by.

Huh. That is crazy that you only had 5 mins of the hard rain. I would have guessed more. Especially with what storms developed south in Missouri/Arkansas.

I think you had to have it all since the weather got up to 70 and around 40 or so.

Yeah. We took cover once we starting seeing weird stuff going on with the nearby ground stroke lightning. Kept an eye on the radar. The storms were basically moving NNE from around I-80 and then up to where we were at.
