Pretty darn impressed that Billy kept in the ride with all the bike hurdles.

Looks like Mike is waiting for the ferry across the Ohio river at Cave-in-Rock. Once he's across that he'll be into Kentucky and then only Virginia to go after that.

Still 900 odd miles to go. 3 days to the coast?

Interesting to see that Jason is taking the Mississippi levee alternative while Mike didn't. Wonder how they compare distance/climbing wise.

Lots of hard riding (hill intervals) across Kentucky and Virginia. Beautiful country, however, I also don't envy riding through Kentucky on a Friday and Saturday night.

Anyone know what's up with Mr. Cuttriss?  He hasn't moved today.

From what I've heard - Donnacha needed to get some physio, but took some forward assistance and has since been DQ'd.

Second hand info for me. So not confirmed

is it me, or is this route longer than I thought.  The trans am race website states it's 4233mi.  Mike Hall's tracker shows him at mile 4340, and still about 50 miles left... what a drag that would be if you are banking on being done at 4233mi!

Tracker might include all the side trips and backtracking one does? Or quoted length simply hadn't been measured accurately?

What an awesome effort by Mike Hall and a pathetic effort by bikepacking.net forum lurkers ;-)
How is this any less interesting or exciting that the Tour Divide? This gezza had just ridden 4400MILES in less than 17 days, absolutely amazing.

I think since it's the first time for the event, and not many people here have probably even ridden the route, that's been the reason for not a lot of chatter. Mike's also seemed to have had this one in the bag for a while now, so not a ton to talk about other than wish him good luck. It IS an awesome effort though. Smiley

Less interesting??

Dirt>Pavement! icon_biggrin

But still an awesome ride by all involved and instead of bears they have tons more cars to deal with. Give me bears any day of the week. Bear rage is rare!

Looking forward to the movie and Billy Rice's trials and tribulations!
