Sofiane has retraced his route and is now heading North back up the way he came....sleep cycling (?)

So if you're going to take a wrong turn and get some bonus miles, I highly recommend having a large rowdy hunting party camped *right at* the intersection watching you go then come back, then go, then come back, then go, jeering and laughing and offering to help... In my case it was just north of Kentucky Camp on the AZ Trail during my AZ1000 attempt in Oct'20.  Yee gods.

Yep, I've seen crazy footage -- you going to go hit it at 50k CFS?

Matthew is on the case, working whatever contacts at the park he has (and he has a few... ask us about the time a rider accidentally rode singletrack in the park, then had to get rescued).  Hopefully they will let riders slip through Flagg Ranch, but we'll see.

If not I just loaded a reroute for TransAM.

The weather in Seeley, ovando, Lincoln looks brutal!! I'm convinced that 40s and rain is the worst.

My driveway is on the route and its currently 35 raining with stray flakes, this is about 6 miles north of whitefish. Its probably wet snow most of the way to polebridge from here.

Sofinae's IG explains the off course this moring was actually a planed rest/sleep stop:  https://www.instagram.com/sofianeshl/

He noted that he had messed up the tracks... and took a wrong turn.

I hope everyone gets save in the rain with hypothermia and bicycle handling and mechanicals.

On a side note a guy died of heat stroke on a the Palisade Plunge here in CO. It will be hot in the south!!!!!! https://www.velonews.com/news/mountain-biker-dies-on-palisade-plunge-due-to-heat-related-illness/

Last year in Yellowstone:

The rangers bent the road closures for me, a solo cyclist, a couple of times.  Friday evening the forecast was for a low of 32 on Sunday night, Saturday morning the forecast was for 24* Fahrenheit Sunday night.  I wanted to get to a lower elevation.   It got down to 14.  Thanks rangers.  I enjoyed having the road all to myself.

Weathers not a joke in Yellowstone.

Posts over on FB indicate that there were maybe 10 SAR call outs in the last couple of days from the Fernie SAR folks. And Sofiane is heading to a section from Lime to Island Park that appears to be closed. Wonder what the reroute ( if any ) is?

Kevin Latta had a family member call SAR on him so they sent a chopper out to retrieve him apparently. He was in touch with other family members but not this one. He's DQ'ing because he thinks he got outside assistance. Without knowing if he took something from them it's hard to say.
