The road to the border is hot, hazy and windy this week. First photo is at I-10 going to Hatchita, second is Hatchita, third is the community center, fourth is the water hydrant there. Temps weren't crazy high - 95-98 degrees

Ty Hopkins looked pretty weary heading to the border, but smiled for the camera!

Further north, Stefano Romualdi was looking good. He had some really frustrating tire issues - his Maxxis Ikon was slashed to the point tubeless didn't work, and was running tubes, which keep going flat.. Pump wasn't working either. Looks like he found some help at the Toaster House.
  He's riding a Locomotive frame -  looks like a Fargo/Cutthroat emulation.

Looks like Greg Gleason finished earlier this evening; he really smoked it!

I just finished reading this thread (thanks to nightshift, haha).  I am basically a nobody when it comes to this, but I'm going to give my opinion on it anyways, because this is the internet.  I feel a lot of the discussion on the rules and violations could be solved by two very simple fixes.

1.  If your goal is to race competitively (20 days or faster for men and 25 for women) then you start on Friday.  Everyone else starts on Saturday.  This also takes a lot of pressure off of businesses along the route, and reduces the overall footprint of such a large group.

2.  Each group (racing and riding) has their own Trackleader Page.  This will make it easier to follow the race, and easier to follow your friend or SO.

Just my $.02, which combined with an extra $1.48 will get you a cup of coffee.

^ Sounds like second is the first looser
Is a 60 year old man trying to beat 25 days, 70 year old man trying to beat 30 days or 70 year old woman trying to beat 40 days not racing?
not to mention people trying to overcome injuries and illness, where any finishing time is tougher than an Elite 30 year old finishing in 15 days

Besides the Long Rangers or Jamaican Bob Sled Teams of the world make for better stories

In years like this year, it seems like the bulk of the pack has been hammered with endless rain much more than other years.  Should competitive racers be relegated because of weather?

Racers are spread out by the time they reach the first town (Fernie) on route anyway, so no need to spread out start times

Ok here's what's happening. Rob Davidson bike is broken. Needs a new part will have to hitch to Albuquerque and back, about 2 1/2 hrs away. His goal is to complete the divide... but he has about 2 days of riding and his flight home is Saturday our time..
Lets see if he can do it.

Rob D's rolling again, that had to be a tad stressful!!

Great to see Justin D skidding into the finish this evening. What a stud.
