What’s going on with Hal? Looks like he is backtracking.

Looks like he's doing a re-route.  Must have run into a closure past Hopewell Lake.

aaa and bbb were told to exit further north than Hal yesterday.  They went east to 285 and south to Tres Piedras (I think) before hearing it was fine and backtracked to their original exit point.  Cost them 5-6hrs but they were able to ride the route.

Looks like two others were deterred at a similar place as Hal.  Johana Stastna and Frantisek Kasanic.  I'm assuming that Forest Service must have someone posted near there that is deterring passage.

Anyone know the Women's Singlespeed record? Does one exist?  I looked thru the TourDivide.org site and couldn't even find the past fast times posted.  I thought that I had seen them posted on that site before.  Maybe not?

Hi there, wondering if we could repost your pictures of Alexandera to congratulate her on her finish! Thanks for being a positive force out on the trail, I’m sure the riders appreciate it! -Vince @ chumbausa

Would be more than happy to oblige.  May I re-introduce to you all the First Place Female Racer for 2018 Alexandera Houchin who was very excited when I told her she was running #1 in Ovando!

The tattoo is a chemical structure diagram but my chemistry isn't brilliant so I don't know which compound. I looked at a few of the more (ahem  Wink ) interesting ones and it's not one of those.

For anyone who is following New Zealanders McKayla and Chantal as they make their way steadily south, you might like to know that they are riding for a charity in NZ that provides bikes and bike training to kids in disadvantaged schools:

I met them way back north at the Tobermory cabin (just after Elk Pass) and they are wonderful folks.
