Does it really matter at this point? She is not going to win the women's race, and she is well behind the 30 day pace marker. Great for her if she finishes this beast!
Interesting comment.
It should matter shouldn’t it?
So are you saying only the top finishers should play by the rules?
And yes great for her when she finishes this beast.

What I'm saying is it should matter for anyone racing the Tour Divide.

She is obviously not racing and is touring the route, so it's not worth digging into what she may have and may not have done. She will not finish in under 30 days which is the cutoff for official race finishers.

Whether she should be on the race Trackleaders page is another discussion, I think not.

I had one of the most pathetic moving averages in the race last year, broke my dang neck basically on lava mtn, blew it a couple times, got to like 15th until everyone around me who was touring at that point got the hint I was racing and stepped it up a bit. Got 21st place and nearly a pr 22d12hr or so by just simply racing. with no game shermers neck and a fs bike with flat bar.
my point is i was racing. regardless of position or pace or situation. its a damn race. if i wanted to hit the divide on a town to town tour i would do that on my own. all that fake racing dilutes the real action.

Totally, that person getting lost or riding for awareness of MS is totally ruining it for Lewis. (sarcasm)

Greg Gleason is definitely killing it, looking for a podium spot for sure. Plus, he is now first in the "over 50" category, as Dom Irving seems to be fading after a brilliant NoBo start.

Mark - as she wrote she is aiming for 32 days, she is already not racing the TD (over 31 days is orange dotted). Probably she should have been put in the touring category from the outset. In terms of "visitation", if she doesn't know the people and is not drafting, hard to call that visitation.

More interesting to me is when someone on bikepacking.net will call out the top 15 rider who missed a section. Rather disappointing that only a 57 year old lady who is following the route to the meter and took 12 days to get to Helena is being noted as a "relegation" (clearly she is from the outset) when no-one comments on the guy at the sharp end who missed a section.

BTW: Greg Gleason missed the Gold Dust Trail ... descended ... spotted it ... re-climbed ... descended Gold Dust Trail ... lost about 50mins plus energy. That's TD racing as it should be.

Andrew Kulmatiski is having a phenomenal Nobo ITT-- 11 hours ahead of Dom at the timecheck in Del Norte.

I would bet if you ask her she will say she is racing.
Well I guess the consensus is not to call anyone out on this forum during a race. I don’t get it, but so be it.
The quote on the blog said “supporting” that’s what got me.
Like Iowagriz posted he read it differently and if that’s the case I do apologize.

On Greg - Gold dust comes up awful fast after the top of the pass and anyone could blow by the trail easily. Kudos for him realizing it and climbing back up to get it done.

Let’s move on

I see Gary Johnson is back out there. (Ex-presidential candidate and ex Governor of New Mexico)

Am I missing something or is Lewis C way off route West of Abiquiu? Or is this the fire detour?

This is from an early post from “Cobbnat”
Sounds like a fire reroute possibly.

Right, the Santa Fe National Forest is closed, so all riders have to go off route between Abiquiu and Cuba. So far I think only Larry Shaw (Nobo ITT) has done that stretch through the Jemez Mtns and over Polvadera Mesa.

Mark - there is no such consensus. Personally, I was just observing the fact that you called out someone who is already not racing the TD in "regulation time" anyway and for something that was not a breach. However you didn't (yet) call out the top 15 racer who missed a section. Just an observation.

Are you talking about Peter Puenner missing out the Golddust trail?

It appears Mark is either lost or pulling the plug. His dot is shown as camping at either; the Helena Water Treatment Plant or the Comfort Suites hotel. Smiley

Looks like Golddust and some odd activity just prior to Brush Mtn - maybe bike repairs?  Advanced forward and overnight and then returned a ways back on the route to start again.  I may be incorrect, but I believe advancing and returning for bike repairs is ok.

Not sure if this has been posted, but looks like Mandatory CDT before Silver City is a no-go. Shame, lovely section of trail that.

Is this closure still in effect?
