BL's alarm clock must have any link to JK's. Both started almost at the same time this morning.

Sometimes a little bit extra pressure isn't that bad. It prevent you from puffering through the landscape.

Haha, true....but I did have the pressure of having to get back to work on time afterwards!

I wonder kind of pie Josh is eating right now. Did he ever reveal his winning pie choice from 2015?

I've had blueberry/cherry from Pie-o-Neer and it's fabulous.  I've had blueberry from The Gathering Place and it's very good, too.  Have yet to eat at the Pie Town Cafe, but I'm sure their food is delicious as well.  There's something special about the Pie-o-Neer and Kathy's wonderful disposition (even though all they serve now is pie)...I can't wait to visit again.

Heya Scott - is there a gpx or description for the fire reroutes, or is it just the info shown on trackleaders? Asking for a racer who doesn't have a working phone out there.

Here are some cues and a GPX.  Hope it helps.

Scott

Do you think there is any merit in saving any of the previous fire reroutes in a GPS for future years, so that if they are "activated " it's a simple job for riders? Specifically next year......😊

Not really, sadly.  Fires and the closures are very unpredictable.  I'm not sure we have re-used a particular detour.  Perhaps the Gila (hopefully not this year), which is a big area with few options to detour around.  Generally we try to keep the detours easy to describe and navigate.

Matthew looked really hard into using the CDT off Burned Mtn as the detour (!).  It would have been nice (good riding, not too much hike-a-bike, direct line back to Vallecitos skipping the closure) but.... you pretty much have to have a GPX file to follow it, so I convinced him it wasn't a good idea.

Seeing the NH flag cruise to the finish, reminds us of what an exceptional racer he was.

The fact he did it along side being such a pleasant and inspirational guy reminds us we should all try to be more like Mike.

Quick Q from a relative newbie follower of the race: I've seen a few places where people are calling Ollie Whaley winner of the 2012 TD but Trackleaders shows him 10+ hours behind JayP. What's the story there?

EDIT: Whalley, sorry. (whoops)

Ollie left has part of the grand departure and I believe Jay P did an ITT in September so that might be why.

Just looking at the data of some the riders that have been moved to the alternate dots.

This rider had a shit of a time in Butte or quite possibly he had a lovely time having a look around. Regardless, he saw more of Butte than the rest of the field.

I can't figure out what Gary Johnson is doing. It appears he stayed on Hwy 26 instead of taking 515, turned back and correctly completed the 515 segment, and then instead of continuing on 26/287 took another wrong turn and is now is heading back up 26 towards the place he took the first wrong turn.

Or am I misreading the tracking info (very possible)?

I see Ashley Benns is back on the road again in Canada.  He is definately going for the ITT YoYo.  So happy to see this as he was thinking of dropping out after hitting Banff and doing the 2,700+ miles once already.  YOU GO ASHLEY!
