Hi wondering if someone can provide some advice on checking up on a rider. Got a text from my son Brad Ryan last night that he was not feeling well and haven't been able to reach him since. His tracker has not reported any movement over the last 12 hours.  He's between Boulder and Atlantic city at the 1284 mile mark.
Looks like your son just woke up and is back on the bike. Hope he's feeling better too!

If it helps ease your mind any, my son(PK) went by there at 10AM this morning.  Although I have no contact with him I can assure you he would make sure he was okay if your son was in trouble.

Food for thought - we have a "no contact" agreement, just makes it easier for them, especially when the mental psyche starts to get fragile around week two.

Thanks PK. I know I'm sounding like one of those parents Wink I wouldn't be concerned other than his last text and then 12 hrs of no movement or response. He's up on the road stopped so its probably just a mechanical issue at this point. I think its a less worry some to be on an adventure than to watch someone on an adventure Wink Your no contact policy probably makes it easier on everyone!

Did the route get changed?

The last time I checked the NOBO's did not go up the Gold Dust trail to avoid the SOBO's on the narrow trial.

Just asking.

(Some time later)...

I see that the Gold Dust trail is an option for NOBO's.   Sorry for any unnecessary noise.

Your right! It is hard being on this side of the equation, especially when it's your kid. I can only imagine how gut wrenching it would be to get the text and then nothing.  Brutal.  Lot of people have been thru there, he'll be alright.

Looks like he may have had someone pick him up and give him a ride!

Damn, Ben! Way to be a total crusher! I wonder if the frame sustained damage from the fork incident? Such a strange place for a crack, eh?!

Looks like something has scored through the carbon rather than a crack. No luck that boy.

Hopefully Ben can limp into Salida (that downhill is going to be tough!) and he can swap out frames. Won't be the first time that's happened. Hopefully, that will work with his budget. A Recon fork is one thing, but replacing a frame may hurt a little more :/ Maybe he's considering options in Breck., but I don't know if the shops there are full-service, or more geared to rentals. The closest one on route would be the one right next to Breck. Brewery. Sending luck, Ben!

Ben says there's nothing compatible or affordable in Breckinridge so he's pushing on. Hardcore

OK, I know people have been bashing on the FB site, and I have been following on this forum, but I fell like I'm missing out on some of the action.  Can someone post a link to the best FB site?  I can't find the moist current on my searches

Can someone please clarify for me, are racers no longer under threat of being relegated to touring status on trackleaders this year? I remember last year we had to maintain above a certain five day average to still be symbolised on the map as 'racers'.

Yep, turns out one of the other riders stopped and checked on him and he was having some medical issues (food poisoning by the sounds of it). Tyler flagged down some help and he got a ride back to Boulder where he'll rest and recover. Pretty hot, dry, and desolate in that area so its great to see the riders watching out for each other. Thank you Tyler!

Hey Smart A$$

so your first link's latest post is from 2016
2nd link's first post is from May 2017
3rd link's first post is June 13 2017

None of these seem to be the "best site" to actually follow the race
anyway tbmd9er said he already did searches

Ok, I really appreciate the effort that has gone into maintaining this space....
I am also really grateful for the access it provides me to some OG members of this community...(:  (Hi gang!!)
I keep my login current in order to not lose touch w folks....(:

That said, this ongoing banter about the location of and preference for where pictures are posted...when there is an exciting race happening out there....(?)
Well, it doesn't  inspire forum excitement from here!

I was asked by ML many MANY years ago to post photos elsewhere, due to the space they were consuming on the forum servers.

So, as for many years now, I am posting my photos on my Lodge FB page...

https://m.facebook.com/BrushMountainLodge/

Go there, don't go there....
I don't care!

Happy stalking, people!!
