Good Morning World from Ovando MT where it is currently 8:12 am.  And here are the first three of hopefully MANY photos to follow on what looks to be a gorgeous day in paradise.  At least it is paradise for those of us just sitting back and watching the riders work through here.

Following are photos of "Camp Ovando" this morning and breakfast with:
Jeff Hopkins of ID
Glenn Carter of NV
Kevin Houser of WV
Nicklaus Gerber of Switzerland and
John Campbell of CO.

Unfortunately  Katie Monaco decided to sleep a few miles out of town and miss her breakfast and photo op.  Bummer.

Should be another busy day!  Enjoy and....

Carry ON!

Hi everyone. I am absolutely loving this years TD. However...
I have a question that I'm sure many of you may have already considered.
What do you think about the use of drop bars and cyclocross bikes in what is considered a mountainbike race?
I don't know what the situation is in the US but here in the UK you are not allowed to enter MTB races using cyclocross bikes. Equally I would believe that the use of drop bars would also be frowned upon.
Please don't shoot the messenger here, I think that I am asking a valid question and I am interested in hearing other peoples opinions.
Thanks. Neil.

Not on your Nellie!  I just rode my cross bike in UK MTB Enduros on the last two Sundays - there is no such restriction over here in Blighty.

As far as the TD is concerned I can think of at least 3 good reasons why I wouldn't want to risk it on my cross bike:-
1.  the lava pavement section
2.  the sand traps south of Silver City
3.  the rail trail section
When you also add in all of the rocky downhill sections, you really don't want to be on a cross bike with two inch tyres.

Having said all that, I am full of admiration for the guy who's giving it a go on a cross bike this year. Can't wait to see how it goes for him and his post-race feedback.

Cool to see two young brothers out there. Noticed (from the pictures) that Will and Nick Bodewes are riding together. Ages 16 and 17 according to Trackleaders.  What a cool adventure for a couple of high schoolers.

Quite a few riders this year under 20.
Will & Luke Bodewes 16 and 17 years old
David (dad) Patrick and Daniel Morrison 19 and 17 years old
John (dad) and Dylan DeVries 17 years old
Billy Rice (dad) and Lina Rice 16 years old on a tandem.

But perhaps even more impressive is the number of riders over 60! My new hero is Rob Orr who is in 14th overall at the ripe young age of 60! This inspires those of us who are a little long in the tooth. Bob also did the AZT 750 and finished 4th overall!

Dream4est-- way to hang in there and keep the streak alive, you have to get back to NM anyway, May as well ride.  Elliot Dumont-- looking strong, David H-- you got this, go back to your ultra roots.  Lots of fast ladies this year, and Marshall Bird at 59 and Robert Orr are crushing it.  Fast as it is this year, hoping to see Jeff Branham give it a go with some good weather.

Looks like Lael got fixed up right!! She's blazing towards that EZ ghost. JayP starting to put a sizable gap on Neil with Seb & Alex not far behind. So many good races within the race going on.

Mark C, glad to hear you're headed back out.

Mark, if it makes you feel any better...FB just posted a picture of us one year ago today of us both icing our knees in Columbia Falls after our knees were destroyed and our spirits were even worse due to the horrible weather. You are so much further than where we were a year ago. Keep it up brother. I believe in you. Just wish I could have been out there seeking out the triple crown with ya

Mark I'm posting the interview we did in Banff. Not to talk you out of pulling from the race. Rather to give you some perspective on what you were thinking before the race as we talked. What ever you decide, maybe this will help. It will certainly help others. It was a great discussion and I'd planned to play it back a little later but maybe this way everyone following the race and contemplating doing this race will get some perspective and inspiration and perhaps it will help you too!

Bonus Episode – An Interview with #TourDivide ’15 Racer Mark Caminiti!

Wow, 66 yo Jim Trumpey is back on course. He went to Whitefish on the highway, but came back to near Eureka and is back on the route.

Marshal Bird!  Crossed Fleecer this morning, and holding down 9th spot into Day 6, but just like years ago another Czech right on your heels, Marshal.  Speaking of Fleecer, here's what I think of the 59yr old MB's effort so far (pic) ...

Looks like Dylan T caught up to Josh K again, and they are cruising in 5th out of Lima (bean).  Top 4 are each reporting 10miles stagger (45mins to 1hr apart) - fascinating.

Also, I see that despite not having a bivy (per earlier post), Lael found a place to rest for 2.5 to 3 hrs last night in Basin, MT.  Looks like only brief stops in Butte this morning ... her pink dot looks to be moving with purpose.

Hey, is there a leader list of riders over 60...top ten as of right now? Can anyone tell me how I can find it on trackleaders? Thanks!
Don't think there's a list on TL, you have to do the leg word to click on each rider name or dot get their age.  As far as I can tell the 60+ pack is lead by Robert Orr, followed by Mitchell Potter.  Didn't go any further back than riders currently thru Lincoln.

Edit: although Robert O dot has not moved from Butte in 13+ hours.  Not sure what's going there.
