It's actually more of a short detour. It was an addenda update

I'm a little confused about why the track on Trackleaders would differ from the "official" route.

Is this a permanent detour? Does the gpx file on Scott Morris' website have the correct track (including this detour)?

I just want to make sure that I follow the "correct" route.

Thanks,

Forest

Not sure why. But if you are using TourDivide2012_v2.gpx then it is part of the route. Just follow the line.

Thanks - that's my plan. Just wanted to double check.

Here's a thread from last year and I believe this is the area you are talking about. Hope this help.

Is anyone riding from Calgary to Banff on June 11th (Tuesday)?  I get into Calgary late on June 10th (hopefully stealth camping in the airport) and plan on riding to Banff on Tuesday.  Would love some company if anyone is riding to Banff that day.

Also - I noticed (on the mtbcast website) that Ed Turkaly is raising money for Shwachman Diamond Syndrome (SDS) in honor of his son.  Good luck Ed with your fundraising (I'll add my donation shortly)!

I've also recently decided to use this ride to raise money for a worthy cause.  The Vermont Cancer Center where I was treated for colon cancer in 2008.  Being 5 years since my diagnosis/surgery/treatment it seemed like the perfect time to do this as a "thanks" to the VCC.

Following is a link to the Facebook page that I created for the ride -

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tour-Divide-2013-Jeff-Mullens-ride-to-support-the-Vermont-Cancer-Center/156726794501270

Sorry for including the plug here but it seemed like a good place to maybe get some additional "likes" on the page and possibly pick up a few pledges from Tour Divide fans.  Following is a direct link to my pledge page -

Thank you for reading!

We are 10 days away from the start of the TD.  So far this year we have had typical spring weather in Montana...snow, rain, sunshine, cold, warm and hot.  If you don't like the weather stick around for a few hours, it will change.  We are hoping to visit with many of the TD riders again this year.  And, will be posting photos as we take them at our lodge or along the Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway.  Good luck and safe travels to all riders from Montana High Country Lodge in the Grasshopper Valley.

Russ, you are the man. If anyone is looking to get the real beta on TD stats and info, Russ is you man. I know of no bigger fan of TD.

10 days, really?

Sorry about that.  The tracker had the 'v1' file from last year.  The GPX on my site is correct, the tracker was wrong.  I've fixed the tracker to have the most current GPX file.

Good catch, folks, thanks.

Also, there was a question about SPOT availability.  We've still got rentals.  Drop us a note: info@trackleaders.com

Note there's also a custom vector basemap (.img file) for the divide route, new this year.

Keep an eye on the Thompson Ridge fire in NM, east of Cuba. Could become a problem if it gets out of hand.  http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/#

Good heads up.  FYI, there's a fire perimeter layer on the TD tracker that shows how close things are getting to the route.  I see the Thompson Fire on it.

Me and Robin Scwartz get into Calgary on the 10th at around 5pm.  We'll be putting out bikes together at the airport that evening then probably ride somewhere and camp or crash at the airport.  We'll be heading out sometime in to morning, you're welcome to join us.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Scott for the basemap and GPX files.  What a huge asset.  Thank you for providing those!
