Now that I think about it, I helped Christina with some GPS advice and she should have had the 2010 TD GPS track with her.  That track is the same as the red line on the tracker, so it is strange that she/they got off route.  It may be that she did the same thing as Chauncey, following some, but not all of the Flathead route.  She has a gap of missing points until showing up off route.  Strange.

Hey fellow junkies...
just wondering if i am mis-interpreting the signs...or if Erik Lobeck went off route in Canada?? it looks like he missed a turn off in the southern part of the canadian section??
i hope not! he's putting up such a good race!

just curious!

it's pouring rain here in colorado!  i hope things dry out for the racers before they hit this section!

good luck to all!

I don't think so.  I see one errant point (#73), but the previous and next points look good.  #73 is on a road, so it's likely he went that way, but probably backtracked due to the fact that it is a dead end according to the myTopo maps.  I also see no way out of there on the sat. photos.  At this point I would assume he only took a temporary detour.

@Scott,

I attempted to link to the historical 2009 data to look at splits from last year to this year for Erik, Blaine, and Matt...Is that readily available for download?  It is already looking to be very interesting as they are at least 1/2 day ahead of last year's pace at this point.  Clearing Whitefish and Red Meadow Lake on day 2 were some very large hurdles.  This evening it looks like Matt and Erik will be tackling Richmond and likely more snow.

Do you mean the split chart or the individual pages?  Both are accessible from the "2009 Historical" Links either on the trackleaders or tourdivide main tracking page.

I am going to add the male and female records to the split projection chart, hopefully later today.  I too am curious how the pacing compares to last year.

I've been trying to learn a little more about each racer by googling their names.  For others who like to know the "human interest" stories behind the racers, I've just found some info about three of the racers.  Christina Domecq and Simon Temple are married, so not surprising that their SPOT tracks showed them as being together when they apparently took the old route, missing the long piece of the race route in Canada.  Simon is a documentary film-maker, and he is along to document her attempt to break the women's TD record.

http://www.actionandmotion.com/
"Christina is now seeking to become the fastest women ever to race south to north on a mountain bike.  The women’s record currently stands at twenty-three days, which Christina intends to beat by 3 days.  The Tour Divide is an unsupported event, riders must carry all their own equipment and bivouac under the elements, but Christina will race alongside her ex-triathlete filmmaker husband who will endeavour to record her record-breaking progress for posterity."

"Meet the team for the Tour Divide... Christina Domecq,... Simon Temple,... Grant Triplow"

This is the team's blog.  Thursday's post:  "Race Day -1 we are still in Calgary and have ditched our panniers, opting for a much lighter system, we finally are heading to Banff. Emotionally exhausted. It feels like the hurdles to get here have been insurmountable and we are all wondering what next disaster may lie around the corner..."

Maybe the next disaster around the corner is that they appear to already be relegated?  Hopefully they realize this, and if not hopefully one of their friends will get the message to them.

Patrick Tsai looks like he needs to backtrack, going a bit off course at the moment.

I noticed Dave Blumenthal took a detour to the Whitefish Medical Center.  He looks to be heading back to the race route, so hopefully everything is ok.

Hey Joe,

Splits for the current records are now on the split / projection chart:

http://trackleaders.com/spot/tourdivide/tracker-tourdivide-spec.php

Matthew's record is from 2009, since it included the Flathead route, even though his 2007 time is faster (by only a few hours).  Jill Homer's record from last year is there, as is Plesko's singlespeed record.

I added a little color to the table and cleaned it up a bit.  Hopefully it helps, but it is still a lot of data!  Smiley

As of the Whitefish split, ML is only a little bit ahead of last year's pace.

Do you know the reason that someone's spot works on the spot shared page, but is not showing up on the leader page on the divide website?

Who?  And can you post the link to the share page?  It's an easy fix.  Thanks.

if it helps i can confrim two single speeders from speaking with them in Banff.

Heather Dawe and Jon Billman.
In taking it one step further i can also confirm Jon is running a 32t White Industry Crank and 18t cassette with a Sram Single Speed chain.

Thanks for making these changes to the table.  It's been great following along and this only makes it better.

Two questions, is there a trick to opening up the 2009 split chart?  Every time I try to open it, my browser just attempts to download the php file.

Also, are the 2010 US Border times accurate on the split chart?  I've noticed several of the racers times on the chart for the border seem to precede their actual arrival time (see Matt and Erik's times for examples here).

Thanks again for all your work on this.  Good stuff.

***UPDATE***

I just got off the phone with racer Suzanne Marcoe.  Apparently Robert Moczynski aka "Bob from Wisconsin" crashed coming down the pass before the US border crossing.  They think he either broke his collarbone or dislocated his shoulder.  He was in pain, but it sounded like he would be ok, so nothing life threatening or anything like that.  One rider, Tony Huston, stayed with Bob and the other riders went to the border to get help.   Sue was not sure what the status was on getting an ambulance out to pick Bob up, but she was waiting with Tom Santacroce at the border for news and for Tony to catch up.

I'm not sure if anyone has emergency contact info for Bob - hopefully someone can get in touch with his family.

Looking for racer Gibney.  I can see him riding on his on page but not on the leader board that has everyone on it.
