Just wondering, who else is signed up and would any veterans like to post any tips or suggestions?

I can't wait to be chewed up and spit out ... hopefully in one piece.  Wish this "rookie" luck ... I'm going to need it.

Unfortunately ... I fractured my collarbone 29 days ago and not sure the shoulder is back to 100%.  Not gonna make it this year ... maybe an ITT later in the year or early next spring.

So BUMMED !!!  Y'all be safe out there.

Good luck everyone ...

It looks like Brad Kee rode all night but Matt Lee's spot is still stopped off route?

The weather forecast has changed for Monday and Tuesday and I'm starting to rethink my already packed gear. I'm ready to start - it is gonna be epic!

Matthew has scratched.  He picked up giardia while filming 'the path' and it would seem he's not over it.  Too bad.

Brad is rocking right along.

Most people seem to tracking pretty well... for TNGA and its dense tree cover.  Eddie is out in front, as expected, with Shey and Carey not too far behind.

Brad Kee is wrapping up a fast ITT -- he could be near record pace... just waiting for a final SPOT point, or near final...

Tracker link is:

And remember that DaveH's BlueDot now works with all trackleaders events, so you can select TNGA and follow along on a smart phone.  Details here:

I just heard from Brad Kee's ride home. He is about 10mi out as of 1320, which means with our 6am Thursday start, he may just miss Eddie's supported record from last year--Dang. Still, a great ride and moral victory for Brad. If his time were to remain fastest beyond the grand depart finish (chances may be good given the weather forecast) it will make for an interesting discussion as to what is the true course record.

Nice riding Brad. Sorry I couldn't finish it off with you.

Looks like he stopped for very little rest. Tracker has him on the final pavement to the border. Awesome ride, Brad.

Gosh - I can feel the tug of an epic.... just feel it.

Brad's last point on Trackleaders shows he got to the border around 14:28 local time ... what a fast ride.  I hope there's a post-ride report.  Looking forward to hearing about the adventure.

Looks like Eddie's already in Helen after a well done 100 mile day. Shey and Carey are just starting the Trey Mountain ascent with the Hickory Nut descent into Helen to go. Hickory Nut is not easily done in the daylight, much less twilight, or night!  Awesome watching this.

It is fun to watch. Eddie is flying. Shey looks solid, Carey is flying...and who is this Wayne Gowens fellow looking so good in his first bikepacking ultra?

Sounds like Eddie broke through the spider webs for the next riders down Hickory Nut yesterday according to MTBcast. Big props for the folks forging through that in darkness. A lot of the riders will be tackling the Hogpen climb this morning. Its a formidable ascent, but at least its paved. Eddie (The Machine) said he was trying to soft pedal it when he filed his latest MTBcast last night. Eddie must have just gone into Zen night pedaling and kept going as he's covered nearing 200! miles since 8AM yesterday. Eddie's at the base of the section that will climb into the southern boundary of the Cohutta Wilderness. Beautiful views off to the south on that ridgeline FS road, although I doubt he'll have time to notice. Carey's Spot is showing in Blairsville this morning which is WAY off course. Not sure what to think about that. The rain bands from TS Lee are just entering the state to the south with a prediction that north Georgia could get 3-5 inches of rain across the northern sections and 5-8! inches in the western part of the course in the next 48 hours.

According the Facebook TNGA page, Carey Lowery is out stating "multiple body mechanicals, sorry to disappoint, but I will live to fight again"

Looks like a late Northbound entry named Lee has started. The big green fella moves at a good bikepacking pace. Looks to be on schedule to finish at the SC border by Tuesday/Wed time frame. Hydration wont be a problem.  Wink
