we'll have to wait for someone from ACA to chime in.

Boy that photo makes it look like it's a flat trail, but it is NOT. The entrance is pretty steep and loose rocks, then it mellows out before it turns into a hike-a-bike with lots of rocks.

seriously?
I removed it, must have fallen out of my top bag. I didn't leave anything in the wood.

Probably. I've found it about a meter 'behind' the tree shown in the picture. I've carried the sticker to the next town.

I tried this as a separate thread and got no replies, so I'll try here.

Does anyone know if Canyon Dam and the Spray River bridge will be repaired in time for the GD or will we have to divert through Canmore and then down the Smith-Dorrien?

I saw your thread Bob and I'm curious as well. Be a shame to have detour right off the bat. If the water is not too deep or running too fast then we can wade through. :-)

There were pictures in the local paper a few weeks ago showing one of the bridges going in, but didn't elaborate when this trail would be open.  FWIW, I was at the trail head today (checking xc-ski conditions) and the signs they had up all summer stating the trail closure weren't there anymore.

I will try and get some better info in the new year for you all.

Besides the single track section after Boreas Pass (Gold dust trail), and the one before Silver City, are there any other changes to the route? I'm asking because my maps are from 2010.
Not sure just yet. Ill be out as early as i can to check out a few problem areas. US maps will not be reprinted this year. Canada is going to the printer today. Should have it in-stock in early Feb.

I found this report that says the new bridge is finished and the trail has been reopened:

Awesome!

Also, does anybody have the cues for the Goldust Trail and the CDT in New Mexico? I'm still in the process of getting my cues together, almost got it nailed.

That's a bummer,  a lot of good info there.

The Sparwood web cam shows lots of melting today.  Maybe an early Spring?  No snow on the route??  Wishful thinking???

Let's keep the "Wishful Thinking" going. I know the Colorado mountains are way behind for snow this year, but that is subject to change in March.
Here's a list of Colorado highway cameras. Steamboat Springs and Silverthorne you can click on. Looks pretty bare up there.

That would be nice but lets not get our hopes up, mother nature has a way of dishing out big surprises.

I have my room booked so now I'm set. :-) All I have to do now is pump some miles in the ol legs. ;-)

Fernie/Elk Valley area has basically average snow depth/moisture for this time of year, above ~1500 m that is.  Less than average in valley bottoms.

But I wouldn't get too excited as by far the majority of snow comes in the next few months, so what is on the ground now is often meaningless by spring.

And let's not badmouth snow too much - it's fun stuff and a great change-up from just riding.

Off to shred some gnar - later!

Phil, Not sure if you found Gold Dust cues yet, but I came across this. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AkjYTTBAyG5KdEw3OTRtQzBTYm1WNE4tbnQ3NE9OREE&output=html

Just an FYI on Cue #8 - There is a cabin to the left when you come out onto the road that has a blue metal roof. You can see it when you are still on the singletrack right before the road.

I think it will be updated on TF as well it might already be there.
