Seems like a very fast start.  Time will tell.  Who knows what could happen?  Bears.  Giardia.  Faulty pedals.  Still anybody's race.

It'll be interesting to see a week or so out.  First few days establish who has a decent pack job, who has an engine, who's got aggression.  But if you're over revving, you can only hold that a couple days, if that, before implosion.

Looks like Craig's off the front by about 9 miles.  Maybe riding half an hour in front of Mike?  Looks like he broke away up the climbs out of Eureka.  Both racers are around 4 hours ahead of the JP's time.

And another big thank you for this parsing of data!  Love how the Triple Crown race flow chart clearly shows difference in strategy - i.e. when to stop and how long to stop.  EF and MM push past Sparwood for an hour or so, and FB having stopped in Sparwood gets up an hour earlier this morning.  All 3 rested about the same duration, and now they are "side-by-side" climbing Cabin Pass.  I can just imagine the conversation out there ... if there is one.

Max doesn't have a PC so he comes to my place to load up his tracks. Also made waypoints for an estimate of how far he wants to get each day. His day one was set for Sparwood so he's a bit ahead of his planned pace.

Eric's killing it out there, he has 20 days as his estimate but he's ahead of the two other TCer's who are estimating 18 days. Must be the lack of gates that's spurring him onward, I'm assuming there aren't a bunch of gates like on the AZT.

It will be interesting to see how these 3 hold up on the CTR they have a long ways to go on this one and then very little time to recoup.

Craig passed my driveway at 4:20 pm today,Mr Hall at 5:00 pm
Craig said he was feeling "ok", Mike said he was having problems w/the dust- it rained yesterday so the dust should not have been too bad What a difference  a year makes, last year they came by early afternoon sunday in a drizzle in the high 30's, this year mostly sunny and 75.

Looks like some good racing! Stappy putting some time on Hall. Maybe Craig foregoing a Whitefish resupply and instead opting for the Columbia Falls gas station/convenience resupply. He has already clocked a significant day....curious where he calls it "good" tonight...

and also curious to see what the chase group does....

I think that they should throw out the results this year. Not enough rain and snow to justify a true Tour Divide! I know some riders from last year and their pace is way ahead of where they were last year. I guess we need to drag out the snow machines!

Based that logic, 2011 was the only legitimate year, so my performance should be multiplied by 3 and I should be credited with a finish. Wink

Appears that Jason Gaikowski's spot tracker is having some issues. Only a couple of points recorded so far.

Could be a bad spot update but Scott McConnell looks like he is off route?

The single speeders are making great time!

Looking like Joseph Holway missed a turn. I hope he realizes it and turns back.

Oh my. Worked a night shift last night and am a bit delirious myself. I seem to be talking to my husband's blue dot...."just stop there and go into that campground and sleep"...."why are you stopped there in the road? Go sleep!". Totally realize I have no idea what's actually going on, but I was blessed with a vivid imagination! Time for bed!

Mike's got moving before CS this morning, but about 17mi behind. A punishing pace from the front boys.

Scott M is my local riding buddy - we call him the monster - this is his kind of race, he has a pain threshold I do not understand - Love watching him on Trackleaders !
