Looks like his crazy mug shot when you click on his blue dot ... and sure matches up with a handle he'd choose.

Not much dawdling or losing time, let alone any stopping, at the little store before heading up Elk Pass...seems like everyone has there game face on this year.  It'll gonna interesting to see what the times are into Elkford.  Past top times are 9 to 10 hrs.  Not that it means much, but it does give early indication of who's pushing the envelope.

And so it begins!  Expect work delays for the next 30 days as the trackers occupy our time.  Good Luck to all the riders.  Great to see Justin S. is back.

I think it's the Lone Ranger, not Long.

He had registered on my Start List under that name, but I had taken him off because I didn't know who it was and thought it was some joker trying to mess up the list. I feel bad now!  sad2

Any one know who is on a single speed?  Other than Dave Nice.

I believe Melissa Liebling is on a single speed. Probably several more as well

Either there's not much snow on Elk Pass, or people are just pedaling through it.  Everyone's just motoring right along!  Of course, I have no idea what they're feeling like or what the weather's like or how hungry the bears are, but the pace ain't bad. ITT Bob Marr is gonna have lots of company this evening.

And down South, looks like Chip Andrus is having navi problems ?? Off course, and I don't there's anything out that way.

I thought there were only 60 riders...did 40 or so come at the start not pre-declared?

Yep, quite a big difference between pre-declaring via the google doc spreadsheet link and declaring by giving Spot info to trackleaders and showing up to ride.

Looking forward to following this forum as I watch my boyfriend's progress on the Divide. His name is Ryan Correy - I saw him off this morning in Banff, along with the other 100+ riders. Great atmosphere with the excitement of the race, and of course with Crazy Larry's energy!

It was a brisk but calm morning. It is wet out here in Banff now, and looks like the riders might be getting the rain too out on the route. Snow might be more of an issue as they approach BC...

The TD Start List spreadsheet was just an informal tool to see who might be coming. It was never official, or mandatory. Some people registered their names there, others didn't, and probably some didn't even know about it. The important thing for any rider was to register with TD (Matthew Lee).

So, who is going to be at the T. Cabin tonight? Such a nice wood stove there.

I probably didn't help by posting the data from that list either. I just put the links up for all 105 riders on mtbcast.com. They will take you back to Trackleaders for individual tracking too.

The field is spreading after 10 hours of riding ... leaders well on their way to Sparwood.

Yeah, the cabin at Tobermoy is gonna has some peeps tonight.

Anybody know why Chip Andrus, one of the NoBo's, diverted off-route?  I didn't think there was re-route that far South.

Maybe it was / is just me, but at 6:23 PM MDT on day 1 last year, the chase pack (loose term to describe the second group of about 12 of us way behind the break away) were just rolling into Elkford.  The last of us came in around 7:30 PM.

This seems about the same as last year.
