I'd love to know how many bonus miles Deejay has ridden. He and Jake K always seemed to be adding to the route themselves while I was racing near them Cheesy

That's NOT a fun bear story! OK, maybe he'll enjoy telling it to his grandkids in a few decades, but it's pretty scary at the moment. Glad that he's OK!

Had to get registered.  Otherwise, I'd not be able to see those Great Pics!!  Glad to be following all the TDers, but especially family and friends like JP, Tom, Ray, Martin, and Tori.  Loving the adventure!!

Sure was a fun evening watching Justin Voss roll out of the foothills north of Del Norte.  Hope to make it out and watch more over the wknd.  Mid 80's in the high mtn valley which is hot for this time of year...and the wind is STILL blowing.  But fun to see the good spirit of JV as he rolled by us cheering him on....he said "It's alot easier than it looks"

Hey Scott M, are you in Salida? If so can you find Lance Griffin and give him a big yahoo from his "fans" in New Zealand? His Spot has stopped just outside of town. Hoping everything is ok.

While I'm at it, thanks for all the work you have put in to this event, and of of course thanks to Matt L too.

Go the Kiwi  thumbsup

I am in Salida, but it's hard to track people down in town... I didn't hear of Lance hitting the shop, but I'm guessing he's in town somewhere.

Thanks for the reply.
He must be there somewhere, hopefully at that cool pizzaria/brew pub enjoying a massive pizza and pint!
His Spot still shows him just out of town.
Cheers, Scott in the Shakey City, Christchurch

Is there a way on trackleaders to determine how far a rider has ridden in a given day? Clicking on a point in the past doesnt show the mileage point to do some simple math. I do see the per day 'average' mileage.

Jefe has stopped at I-40 in New Mexico at 11pm but Kurt has ridden on.  Is this the midnight breakaway that will determine the race?

I am in the Albuquerque area.  I rode a 60 miler today out in the desert and I'm telling you it's WAY HOT.  It was 100 today in Albuquerque and the wind (out of the south here) feels like a blast furnace - no joke.
Surely there's got to be some advantage to finding or making shade in the heat of the day and riding through the night?

Exactly right.  I would think there'd be profit in riding through the night and bivvying up between about 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.  The desert cools off really nicely at night.  It's probably 40 degrees cooler.

Firstly, thanks to the rider that picked up my Spot way back somewhere between Canyon Creek & Butte.
Apparently it was at Brush Mountain Lodge when I was there last night but I didnt know. Never mind.
Thanks to those who are making an effort to get it back to me.

P.S. Just spent $500 on my bike in Steamboat Springs to keep it on the road!!!

sorry, martin, but i didn't/don't have your spot!...hope it finds you!
ride safely!

The river crossing on the main route was flooded for all of the SOBO riders.  Not sure if it still is, but Paul is following the same impromptu detour they did.

We've scheduled a reroute to the reroute that bypasses Huckleberry Pass east of Ovando, MT. The 'Cutoff Road' from Ovando-Helmville Rd over to MT-141 (included to avoid sketchy MT-200) is closed due to flooding. Riders will therefore be routed on the main route up Dry Gulch Rd (marked in yellow) directly to MT-200. From there it's straight (east) into Lincoln to resume the main route.

Below is the Gmap graphing the changes. The yellow line is the high water line. I've arranged for signs to be hung at the Stray Bullet Cafe and the Mercantile. Hopefully this enough. I'll try and phone the leaders in Seeley Lake now. They'll be loitering at the Conoco store soon.

You have to go back a ways in this thread, but I think Paul A has just taken the re-route to the re-route.  In other words, he's right on course !!!

Looks like David Horton made a short stop at Brush Mtn. Lodge yesterday and rode into Steamboat around 1am.  Looks like he had a great day.  I bet riding into a new state has to put a little wind in your sails.
