The deal at BTI was too good to pass up. Loving the new wheels. http://www.notubes.com/ZTR-Arch-EX-275-650b-Stock-Wheelset-P1157.aspx Anybody out there put any real miles on these hubs, are they any good in the long haul? I need to do the maintenance on my King's, other then the up keep the King's have taken a beating for over 10 years but how much longer till they need major work? Will these take the same level of abuse for even half the time?

The Stan's hubs are functional, but they won't take near the amount of use and abuse that your King hubs have.  In the shop I see a fair number of these hubs, and bearing replacement is a pretty typical repair.  At least it's easy.  The freehub drive mechanism isn't nearly as bomber as King's RingDrive, either, but once again, it is functional.  You can put some miles on 'em, just make sure to keep an eye on bearings and pawls.

Generally, if someone wants Stan's rims, I end up building them onto DT Swiss hubs or something to avoid the weakest link in the Stan's wheelsets.

Thanks, that's about what I expected I guess. For a set of wheels to try out a wheel size they'll be fine. It's not like I have anything big planned anyway. If I am really happy, as I seem to be, with the new wheel size I guess I have to have the King's relaced once again.

I have a set with the ti hub. They have proven to be very durable. TDR, AZTR 750, plus many additional miles and abuse. I've replaced one rim, two years ago. I also replaced the bearings and aluminum cassette body after 6k plus miles. I think the wheels have four seasons on them. My wife ran the wheels on her bike last year since I converted to 27.5. The one thing that I don't like as much as my DT hubs is the free hub engagement. I've always been a big fan of Chris King as well, but for the price the Stan's seem to be a good choice.

I had the same Stan's hubs laced to a Stan's iron cross rim. Worst set of wheels i've ever owned.

1. The hubs required frequent overhaul
2. The spokes loosened often or snapped
3. The rim did not stay true.

Granted, in addition to parts quality, the wheel build could be a factor here.

In the end, i sold-off the Stan's wheels at a loss and built-up Chris King hubs laced to HED rim. I've had no issues with the wheelset and am happy again.

I currently own two sets of Stan's wheels.

1) 26"   Both F and R Crest 3.3 hubs [9 mm rear and 20 thru front], 2.0-1.7 mm spokes - many, many miles using these wheels on my Ibis Mojo.

2) 29"   Front - Crest & Exposure dynamo hub. 2.0-1.5 spokes. Rear - Arch and Stan's 3.3 hub. 2.0-1.7 spokes. Many, many miles on a Ti hardtail.

Note/Edit: I'm running a lighter built wheel in the front [Crest/1.5 mm spokes] and heavier in the back [Arch/1.7 mm spokes]. IMHO, a hardtail takes more of a beating in the rear wheel than the front. Especially true if you run a fork on your hardtail. So, if you're a weight weenie like me, here's an opportunity to shed some weight in the front wheel.

Knock on wood - no issues. Once upon a time I was a motorcycle mechanic and raced motocross. Perhaps I know how to be nice to wheels as a result. I also run relatively high volume tubeless tires and the benefit of running lower tire pressure helps the wheels stay true.
I laced up the dyno front wheel myself [parts form Wheelbuilder.com] and the other three wheels were purchased direct from from NoTubes/Stan's. All are 32-spoke with aluminum nipples. I weight about 165-168 pounds sans clothing/pack.
Run XT rear cassettes, since their granny carrier is nicer than SRAM cassettes on the aluminum freehub body. I also run the QR rear wheels with 10 mm DT Swiss thru axles, requiring the optional Stan's hub collars, which stiffens up the rear wheel a bit, compared to a 9mm QR axle.
IMHO, hard to beat their wheels for the price vs. weight. But as always, YMMV and anecdotal tales from others will conflict with my experience.

The recent (3/11/15) podcast on Mountain Bike Radio has a discussion about them. Worth a listen IMO

I am extremely satisfied with these.  No damage or broken spokes after 1 full year.  I got the wider, bigger ones for all the chunky, rocky stuff I tend to ride.
