Anyone know the snow situation on the divide route this year. I'm trying to figure out what shoes to use; a Shimano winter weight that i can send home during the race or my regular Specialized trail shoes. I get cold feet easy so lot's of snow slogging has me leaning towards the winter weight. Advice?

I've just been up into the edges of the Canadian Flathead behind Ferrnie. The track was clear to 5600' and compared to 2011, that is a full 1000' higher.

Could be a good year, could be a wet year, could be a hot year.

NOAA forecasts have been predicting a May with well above normal temps with above normal temps for June through August.

I expect wet though. Just because wet just really sucks.

Thanks! I'm a newbie so forgive the cadet questions. I guess I will bring my regular shoes and grit it out if there is a lot of snow at higher elevations.

Been wandering around the fringes of the flathead again. The snow is at 5900' now, so its receding fast and with the hot weather forecast for the end of the coming week, we could be in luck.

This afternoon we have had hail (hard enough for my legs to turn red with the stinging) now have lightning strikes and heavy rain.

Changeable weather in the mountains - who would have though it?
