How helpful would it be to have expanding hiking poles for the hike through GC?

Thoughts?

Thx.

very useful
really saves your legs on the downhill and enables some arm power to pump you uphill

And if you have tired old knees, like mine, trekking poles are a godsend.

saved me from rolling my ankles numerous times. You can buy them at the store on the south rim.

I packed just one light carbon hiking pole from the start.
It worked as a stay on my handlebar roll, and could be used to support a rain tarp
used both palms on top of the pole to support myself downhill and used it like a paddle to propel me uphill, or can use it as an ordinary cane

I am thinking that I could use a hiking pole as a top-tube bag to seat bag support to prevent sway

Did you by chance catch the price of any? I'm thinking that's my plan if/once I get there, buy some (hopefully) cheap ones for the hike.

No idea, if I had to guess between 50-100. Nothing is cheap on the south rim. Including Mcdonald's

If you plan on eating a Happy Meal at Tusayan McDonalds...bring $22.
