Has anybody found that putting a cue sheet together helps with navigation, or is this strictly a navigate-by-gps route?  I generally have my gps put away and only pull it out when I think I'm lost (or I know I'm lost...) Cheesy

If there's a cue sheet available I usually put it on my phone for a backup.  Paper cues are never a bad idea though!

I wouldn't bother - I made cues last year and all they did was confuse me, since the mileages didn't match up once I got out on the course.

Be prepared to get lost out there  icon_biggrin Just remember, when lost backtrack to where you remember being (don't do what I did, and assume you can bushwhack across to where you THINK the trail is)

I will be doing an ITT starting on Saturday AM,  24 hours after you all start.  Work threw a curve at me, but I will not be denied the pleasure pain!!! Can't wait to get out there and follow some tire tracks.  I'm sorry I'll miss the group start though!

That's the spirit Wink You might have some company at the start - wolfmansbro (and the wolfman?) have a similar situation.

I had planned to be down there on the 17th, but unfortunately I won't be able to make it that weekend. However, I plan on heading down the Friday before (June 10th). If that is the case, will I be able to log on to the Trackleaders site and have it record my time? Not a big deal if it can't. Also, this will be my first time on this course and it sounds like its easy to get a little lost. I will have a GPS that hopefully shows me the way, but are there any specific mile markers where I really need to pay attention? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks, Geoff

Trackleaders can probably set you up early, shoot Scott & Matthew an email at info@trackleaders.com.

Tips: the Dixie is an amalgamation of existing routes and trails. Some of them have seen little use the past decade. Head into it with an open mindset. As one finisher last year said "when you come to a fork in the trail, take the shitty way". I never looked at it that way...but it fits.

Have plenty of batteries for your GPS and don't lose it Wink

The trickiest navigation spot is probably finding the trail out of Bryce Woodlands that ascends the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Have faith in the track, there is a trail and once you find it it's easy to follow.

Finally, there is still snow on the Markagunt above 9k. It will melt fast the next few weeks, but June 10 is cutting it close in regards to having the trail cleared of deadfall. Have pants and long sleeved shirts to protect skin in case you end up hopping trees.

Have faith in the track,

Yes, this.... there are spots where the track departs solid trail and heads off where there is no trail at all. I don't want to ruin all the fun and tell you where, but just need to be alert.

I have at least an hour of wandering and wrong-turn time in my ride last rear. Probably 5 or 6 instances where I had to stop and really try to figure things out. All in good fun though... made it interesting.

Hi All; This sounds like an awesome course. Having some serious "i feel left out," not being at the starting line for the TDR and i need a fix.

I was curious where a safe place to park might be for my van while out on course. Mulling over participation and want to evaluate all the details. Thanks in advance, Jeff Taylor.

At the starting line. There is good camping there too. Racers all leave their vehicles there while out on course.

Hey everyone -

Not too long until June 17.  Getting real excited for the trip.  Just wanted to see if I missed the SPOT / Tracker signup?

Dave - should I go directly to Scott?

Thanks in advance!

All registered!

Thanks again - can't believe I missed that, must be all the excitement.  With the rental option will it be shipped to my home address?

See you all in a little over a week.

Last call for SPOT/TrackLeaders! Registration will be closed soon (sometime today I expect).

The SPOT units are being mailed to me, and I will be there to hand them out Thursday evening in camp.

Hey you greyhounds, thought you might need a rabbit to chase our there. I'll be finishing a conference in Denver Wednesday and am finishing up a road trip back to Washington state. What better way to wrap up than the Dixie 200? Scott's got my dinero and I'm looking forward to a cleaner ride than 2012. Just need to remember..... Dixie 200, not Trans Utah. Anyway, really looking forward to this and wave as you go by!
Have fun, Dave
