About 30 hours to finish from Georgia Pass to tie Jefe's record...holy crap those guys are fast. Their ability to deal with sleep dep amazes.

It looks like he might be sleeping now. I haven't looked at the weather but I think we might see a new northbound record.

How does Jesse even keep up with nutrition at this pace? GU drip to the juggy vein or what?

Sorry, I don't think this is right..... Jesse hits 4 days tomorrow morning @ 4am.... then he has until sometime around 8am-ish for a Northbound Tarryall-included record.

He has to at least duplicate his effort from 2013 from here on out to get under 4 days. He wondered himself if that was possible on his Facebook so I can only assume he if pushing hard for that. In 2013 Jesse and Jefe were turning the screws on each other the entire way. Assuming Matt Schiff (edit: Tenmile Crest @ 10:00am; not too shabby!) is not right on his heels, then he is gonna have to motivate himself tonight.

No matter what, its an inspired ride and definitely looks like a new Northbound record.

I wish I had time to go pound some beers with Pat @ the Stagestop and give him a good cheer.

Jeannie Dreyer is also tearing it up!  She looks like she will set a new women's record (that includes the Tarryal detour)!

After I turned around after Los Pinos Pass, I enjoyed seeing all the riders coming the other way. Most seemed to be enjoying the dirt road and lower elevation (a lot said they really suffered up high, especially getting/keeping calories down). While chatting with JayP, Jeannie and Martin rolled up. They seemed to be sharing gear and food. Interestingly, they ate the last of their food (!!) right there and said that they were going to resupply from Apple since they ran out of food so far before BV. So yes, Jeannie is really flying but under a different strategy than the rest.

From the saloon (where he was at around 1:30p) to the finish took me 10+ hours in 2013. Jesse is riding a lot faster than I ever did, so I'd think if all keeps going well, he could finish as early as midnight tonight.

Hmm... Liking the midnight estimation quite a bit better. Was going to try to be there for the finish.  Not so sure if it's 3:59:59 however!

Props to Roland Sturm, going westbound.  He already bagged Mt. Elbert yesterday and now he is on his way to his 2nd 14,000' summit.  I love it.

@Scott I'm in lake city and leaning towards taking the trail angle shuttle back up the hiil. I have zero cell coverage so if I'm seen going back to the route at more than 6mph I'd like to be changed to touring status.

Felt inspired by Justin, so I stopped at the trailhead last night (Pretty good site just past the turnoff on the right before the Co trail goes down) and hiked up this morning. Maybe I can time it well enough for another bonus detour. Time wise,  a 14er  is like adding another section, so it throws off the planning (well, unless you plan for it, but I haven't)

I salute you, Roland!

@samh (a long time ago):  Thanks for posting the sign!  Most of us are aware of the CTR's DON'T BREAK THE LAW rule, but some of the posters this year clearly need a refresher course/basic education.

I miss the weather layer!  There's a huge storm with flood warnings in the B.V. area right now.  Would be nice to see it on the map.  Hope everyone out there is okay.  Ride, Jesse, ride!
