Scratched. Had a bad crash lastnight coming down the jeep road into mt Princeton hot springs lastnight. Got scraped up real good but continued to push a couple more hours with Adam. This morning, the effects of the crash on my back reinjured an old pinched nerve in my back, locking up my right glute and hamstring to where hike a bike would be impossible. Good luck to everyone out there still racing

Damn, Neil is crushing segs 22/23, should be in Silverton in a couple hours....sub 4 day finish could happen! 14 or so hours to do Silverton to Durango, gonna be tight. Possible?

Neil is a machine!  To be close to 4 hours with the Taryall detour is mind blowing!  He'll need to be out of Silverton by 3pm at the latest to give him a very solid 15 hour push to Durango to be done by 6am.  Can he do it?  I'm excited to find out!  No matter what he's setting an extremely high mark on the CTR and doubly insane that he's only been racing bikes for a few years and barely in his 20's!

Holy crap he is killing it.  No way I thought this pace was possible on the new route... if he makes it in while I'm not at the shop I'll have to bring him a burrito at the finish!

Nice work Mark. No Princeton resupply this year i suppose. Keep it up and I'll look forward to hearing about this long summer of bike racing.

To all the other racers out there, stay strong and may the storms pass by quickly.  It looks like some smart decisions being made this year.

In Durango! Rainy out there. Will it slow Neil down? Nothing else has!

Is Karlos trying to find lower ground out of the weather?

Uh oh, Karlos may have done what Shaggy did in 2011, heading down Pole Creek, thinking it is still the CT (hasn't been for several years).  I've never understood that missed turn - seems like the less obvious of two choices.  But it appears to get people still.  Bummer, that's a big climb back to the top!

Karlos and friends might be avoiding the weather. Radar is showing some cells over that area.

This is true - hadn't enabled the radar layer.  At least down here in town, it's been raining, but no lightning.  Up high could, of course, be a completely different story!

Woot! Go Mark!

So Joey and I were wondering: how quick can Neil do the stretch from Mola's to Durango? Might be an early morning jaunt to the trailhead to meet him!

So I'm at home trying to guess the same thing. It really depends how far he's pushed the sleep deprivation. Since he has to go through the night it means a lot more variability. For me sitting on the couch to say how long it should take Neil just seems wrong. But two years ago it took me 16 hours (Molas to Durango). I didn't sleep at all during the stretch (from 12 pm to 4am) and I wasn't pushing the sleep deprivation that hard from previous days.
