Rode with Jefe as he was rolling through Leadville and he was looking strong. He was stoked to not be riding in a monsoon. Rock on riders!!!

Ouch - it's unfortunate too since there are some big views to be had.  I certainly would not want to be up on Ten Mile in any sort of a storm!

Here's what Ethan is looking at right about now - minus the rain.

Greg and I just rode up (Tuesday morning) from Copper Mountain to Serle pass and most of the way to Kokomo.  We ran into Nick Thelan, Dan Joseph, Greg ??, Jesse ?? that were all former CTR alumni from previous years, and cheering the race on from Janet's cabin.  Ethan, Jesse, and Jeff were long gone by.

Dave came by the Janet's cutoff, about 30min below Serle pass, at 10am.  He had a great attitude and was doing real well.

12:00pm, we bumped into [edit] Ezster between Kokomo and Serle, riding real strong and smiling.  Clouds were rolling in.

12:20pm, top of Serle, Steve Lacy was grabbing some food at the top of  Serl pass and done with the pushing section.

We dropped all the way to copper, started getting wet, and saw the group of three we speculate was jf, cm, tk, and jc snuck by there somewhere.  We were by the golf course tees at that point.

Aaron was there at 2pm at the golf course tee, smiling, but wet and ready to climb.

2:30pm. We had parked at the copper junction, so at the quizno's, we talked to Chris (Esther's husband), his buddy Matt, and Kurt.  They were wet and muddy from the decent off 10mile to hwy 91, but psyched and ready to eat and move on.

That is all we saw folks, cheering for all of them
jon and greg.

Cool.  Thanks, Jon and Greg.  As a racer, seeing a few people who know what you're trying to do, especially in these conditions, has got to be a spirit lifter!

Looks like most of the pack is getting dumped on right now, with the leaders in little pockets of dryness.

That's interesting that your radar isn't displayed with bilinear filtering (it's blocky).  What browser is that screen shot from?

Nice shot, Andrew.  We had it so easy last year...

Visited with Steve Lacey in Leadville just after he finished his burger. He looks good, headed for Half Moon just before a big storm cut loose. I hope he missed it, I got soaked just riding home! He says the trails are so muddy it's difficult to get traction.

On Monday Eddie (CTR veteran 2008) and I (CTR veteran 2009) rode up to just shy of Kokomo and stayed overnight to cheer on the racers. We had a great night with our buddies Nick (CTR veteran 2009) and Greg who are on a pleasure ride from Indian Creek to Salida. On Tuesday Greg and John (refer to previous entry by john reply # 43) rode up from Copper and joined us too, they continued on down the trail on a loop ride back to Copper.

We were able to see most of the leaders just below the summit of Kokomo pass.

At an unknown time Ethan rode by in first place- It must have been at night when we were sleeping. Eddie had his tent set-up just a few feet off the trail but did not see Ethan.
8:30 am Jesse and Jeff K came by within 15 minutes of each other. We spoke to Jeff K - high sprits and happy.  Did not get a chance to chat with Jesse.
10 am David Harris came by with a big smile and a wonderful outlook.
11 am approximately Eszter and Steve came by both rolling along with more great attitudes.

at 1 o'clock Eddie and I rode down to Copper and we saw a group of three riders suiting up for rain near the ski area and a fourth just behind. All these guys had smiles that could not wiped off by the rain. I  think that is the best way to do this ride - with a great attitude.

From just about all the racers we spoke to they said Georgia pass was very wet and RAINY. I hope the clouds clear and rain drops and lighting disappear for the remainder of the race.

Congratulations to ALL the racers for putting out the effort to make it to Durango. It is a long way to the end and I consider it a personal win just to give it an honest try no matter how long it takes or how far you get. Keep on riding with those smiles and enjoy.

Special thank you to Stefan for doing an awesome job putting on such a great race.

We too, are concerned parents. Our son Tom's SPOT showed up at the start of the race , but looks like he hasn't moved at all.

Most likely he just hasn't figured out how to get it into track mode correctly.  I'll send you our phone number in case you hear from him.  It's easy to explain if he can give one of us a call.

My homies Dave Harris and Jefe Branham are sitting in 4th and 5th, and they also seem to be sitting for an awfully long time in BV.  Their points look like they are at City Market, not a motel, though.

Perhaps Dave is looking to break his record for last year -- that of slowest split time at BV City Market.  He really set up shop and settled in last year:

A little planning and foresight goes a long way though.  I am sure we will see racers run low on food before Silverton again.
