The Oregon Timber Trail 300 Bikebacking Race

On July 8 a ragtag group of mountain bike riders will meet near the California border and race north on the Oregon Timber Trail until they reach the town of Oakridge.  That is 300 miles with 25,000 feet of climbing.  Two-thirds of the race will be on challenging singletrack, with most of the remainder on dirt or gravel roads.

The southernmost 300 miles is the most isolated and rugged section of the 700-mile Oregon Timber Trail.  It traverses through high elevation meadows, along rocky escarpments, past alpine lakes, and through old forests.  It's breathtaking.

This is a self-supported race with only one town to re-supply.  Like most bikepacking races of this flavor, there is no entry fee, no awards, no support, and no sponsor.  It is simply a diverse group of bikepackers racing against the clock while overcoming challenges along the way.  Plus, it can be a lot of fun.
