Thanks!

I'm In! Been living in Sac for 3 years now and looking at this every year. I'm committing early this time.
Shooting for the 6ish day plan, I'm not superman and I like to soak it in.

I really want to do this on something rigid with bigger tires... maybe even the new Surly Wednesday. Or one of Salsa's new adventure bikes (deadwood)... any thoughts??

Was planning the same thing as you, rigid with 2.4s though. Most recommended a minimum of front suspension. I follow your ethos...

You can do it rigid for sure. Will it be as much fun? Only you can answer that. A few of the rougher sections have been done away with in the new route, so it is certainly easier to do than it was before. If your outlook and expectations are good it will be just fine no matter what you ride.thumbsup

Yeah, I've been gone for a couple weeks. I'll figure it out this weekend. Must have the wrong credit card on file for the renewal.

Thanks for the gpx! Have you done a cue sheet in the past? Just starting to think about resupplies and water. Thanks!

I have a water waypoint file I'll put up. There's water everywhere this year so it's not really needed, just more stuff cluttering up your GPS. Food and such are only in the main towns. Foresthill, Soda Springs(time dependent), Truckee, Kings Beach, Heavenly( time dependent ), Myers, Strawberry, Foresthill. Uncle Toms Cabin is an old Clamper bar on the way from Loon Lake to Foresthill, it is time dependent as well. They have burgers there I believe.

Awesome. Sorry, work is insane right now so I don't check in here as often as I'd like. Let me know if anyone needs anymore info.

Seriously thinking about lining up in July; will depend upon June and early July's training. Was looking at 2014 prior race blog/recap and wanted to verify that there is a ~120 mile segment without food replenishment availability? Is the course the same as 2014? Thanks...

So the course is different from 2014. The King fire destroyed a large piece of the course in late 2014. The course is the same as last year though.
The resupply options are better with the current course. There are some time dependent resupply options, namely Heavenly and Strawberry that have limited hours.
Your longest stretch would be Strawberry to Foresthill. I'm not at home right now but I believe that stretch is about 60-70 miles. Hard riding out there though so plan accordingly. Food shouldn't be much of a problem if you plan correctly.
I wish I could tell you average times between supplies, but obviously that differs from person to person. I've made it from Incline Village to my home in Foresthill without stopping for food, but I was pretty much out of food by the time I got home. Hope this helps a bit.

Just an update to things. I've changed the file and course a wee bit. Make sure you upload the new version before doing too much home work.

I apologize, but I tried to download the updated course GPX file from the website and was unable to do so with Garmin or Adobe...any advice for my viewing pleasure? Thanks.

No need to apologize. Do you have Topofusion? If not, I may have to put together a Garmin file that is not at 10,000 points for you. For some reason Garmin doesn't like simplified tracks. If you could, email me at allansx2 at gmail dot com. The file is too big for here.

The .GPX file seems fine - I opened it in Nat Geo's Topo. Do you have GPS Babel? Indispensable, this: it should be able to convert it to whatever you need.

Do you think the route will be passable in mid-September? I am sure there could be an early snow, but just found out I may be heading to Tahoe area around that time for work.
