Shouldn't be a problem. Water at Sugar Pine Reservoir and Robinson Flat at the hand pump. Robinson Flat to Soda Springs is no problem, you wont need it, just fill up at Robinson Flat. No water on the TRT at the usual small streams. Spooner, Heavenly, Star Lake and Meyers are going to be the only spots likely. Should still be some water on the 50 side along Pony Express but Meyers to Wrights lake is no problem so you likely won't need any. The rest of the route should be good. Don't rely on anything that's not a major river or lake, all the small stuff is dry.

I'm so bummed to Hear that only A few has signed up? I mean it's Lake Tahoe, the Sierras! It's freakin gorgeous, it's a challenge, everything a bike packing route should be yet. I'm included in the group that won't be there this due to vacation time but I'm in for 2016 for sure. Trying to round up some tour divide veterans to join too! Any California TD veterans out the hit me up and let's train!

The first casualty...I'm backing out before the game begins.
Limited by time and doubting my preparation, I will likely just make a 'short' 250 mile lap of the Lake.
Maybe we'll cross paths.
Next year...

Thanks to Blake we have a new addition to the course. The updated track is on the website. Only two folks signed up so far. Rather disappointing to say the least....

Sweet! Will trackleaders have the updated track/route? Disappointed, yes. I wish there more riders joining us this year. It seems that many folks are planing for 2016. This is an amazing route. Sooner or later the word will get out. Psyched to see that Jeremy is joining in. I think we have 3?

Wish I could join in.  It would take me at least a week to finish though and I can't take that much time off right now.  Doing a shorter version around the lake would be a lot more realistic for me.  Best of luck to those who can make it!

Sorry, no, the little section through Tahoe Donner will not be on the Trackleaders page. I wasn't about to have Scott change the track for such a little change especially since he is essentially doing this for free.

By blowout do you mean by nobody finished the route? Bummer, we need a race like the CTD here in California, better yet in Northern CA since Southern CA already has the Stagecoach 400. Hope this race continues.

Did no one finish? I meant Blake being the only rider after a day or 2. Trans North California is a good one in Northern California if you haven't heard of it

I may not have followed the route very well but the take- away should be that bikepacking in the tahoe area is really really good and easily accessible from anywhere in northern california (and probably part of nevada too.)

You don't need much planning just get yourself to somewhere near tahoe and ride the legal parts of the rim trail.

some of those connectors and trails out towards barrett lake are amazing but for a low stress (planning wise) two to three day trip the rim trail is a great bet and has everything you'll possibly want.

Thanks Sean for opening up this route.
I'd love to do the part around the lake again.
