Arno - you are cracking me up!  Keep going!

I think you have Elliot's phone!  He's in Flagstaff now, and I'm sure would love to get it back -- though it looks like you are heading out of town.

Crushed, or crushing, Mark?  I think more of the latter.

Congratulations to our race winner, Jay Petervary!  He logged the second fastest time on course, at 8:08:57 per SPOT.  Max Morris has the third fastest, from last year, at 8:14:43.

Mike P's call ins are pretty entertaining.  He discovered that sunblock can be used as chain lube in a pinch.  He got hit by hail and rain so bad that it turned the Russell Tank area into wheel stopping death mud.  Bummer on that timing.

I was hoping maybe his "carry everything from the start" strategy was going to put him in a head-to-head race with Aaron, who had to wait for the PO to open.  But he mentions in his call-in that he's crushed, and needs to rest and address a few things (like hip belt straps that got chewed through on his pack) before jumping into the canyon.

Jill and the Ron Thomson crew are resting in Payson, preparing for the push to the rim.

Brad had another perfectly cool day to finish the Gila 100.  It was quite stormy over Lemmon way this evening, including a number of lightning bolts.

Really hoping to see Elliot's dot leave Flag.  He had a tire issue that forced him to take a ride into town, but retraced his steps.  I am urging him to finish this amazing journey he is on, regardless of somebody's arbitrary 'rules' written on a webpage somewhere.  Finishing is more important than anything.

Aaron is almost to Flag.  I haven't been watching the radar, but rain could shut down the trail south of town too.  Death mud potential is high.

On my tour I ran into the death mud around Blue Ridge CG. Locked up my wheels and I ditched to the road. Outhouse bivy to stay warm last night and more rain. Raining again in Mormon Lake. I'm hoping Aaron got through the mud okay.

Got to talk with Brad outside of Tortilla Flats and Aaron in Tonto Basin. Awesome guys and both in great spirits!

Made it to Flag!  Lost rear brakes after pays on.  Forgot how hard from rim to flag.  Never again on a hard tail  Hit rock and ripped cleat plate from shoe.  No one in flag seems to have bike pack shoes in my size, so hoping shoe too holds.  yesterday was so tough, trying to channel jay p with no negative thoughts.  Got a small lo all shower above flag and it caused horrible death mud/pine needle adobe.  If racers get caught up here in the rain, they will walk for days.  Thanks to Scott morris FP making this happen, it feels like   going to sea in a small boat

Oh no, it looks like my all time wooden spoon record on the AZT300 has just been broken! Massive congratulations to JillH on her finish, I know exactly what she went through - total body shutdown in the first few days, hotel recuperation, flats, major mechanicals, weather, detours, food and water issues, already being in the negative energy zone by the time you get to the 300 start after riding to and from the border etc etc etc. If it was anything like my attempt she will look back on it as something like a coming of age ritual too! So many awesome experiences and memories mixed in with the frustrating...

Here's hoping you go further than the trails on the north side of Flagstaff I managed on the AZT 750, Jill. Ran out of time after my slooow 300, had to fly home to Europe. Watching the blue dot and sending you good vibes all the way to the border!

Ian Corfe, 2010 AZT300 finisher and all time slowest completion until yesterday!

Scott,
It looks like some riders are missing from the elevation profile view...any info on that?
It's not crucial, just curious.
Thanks.

It was losing track of people that didn't track for an extended period -- Elliot and Jill specifically.

I believe I've fixed it now, for both the elevation plot and route mile calculation.

Go Mark, GO!

Mike P also finished in 3rd place!  Congrats!
