Jill lost her Spot.  She's leaving Mormon Lake now pushing on to Flagstaff.

She's hoping someone here is in contact with Jeff Swanstrum or Ron Thomson.  If so and they happen to find it on the trail she would love it if they can contact her so she can get it back after the event.  Thank you in advance.

AZT14: Jill Hueckman called in from Mormon Lake! She dropped her Spot, as noted above.

Barry (and anyone else curious to know)-
The birds with red glowing eyes (some had Amber-orange for me) are called Night Swifts. So told to me by fellow 750 racer and Tucson native, Elliot D.  I was fascinated by these birds that came out in the dark and sat in the middle of the trail. The different color spider eyes were wild, too.

Google shows nothing for night swifts, just to set the record straight. The Common Poorwill was posted last year. Thats the bird your seeing feeding from the trail.

The Common Nighthawk www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/common_nighthawk/id nest on the ground but feeds in flight.

The Common Poorwill www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Poorwill/id sits in open places jumping up at bugs.

When you live with a birder you have to know the official name. Both are in the Goatsucker species then there's nightjars and nighthawks.

Carry on with the cheering, of riders toughing it out out there!

Congrats to Aaron, Elliot and Mark on finishing up today!  I have Aaron at third fastest ever, as mentioned earlier.  Mark has shaved days off his fastest previous time!

It looks to me like the Ron/Jeff crew has picked up Jill's SPOT, which is why it's showing at Mormon Lake.  Who knows, maybe they'll bump into each other again, or at least it's found!

Aaron was looking strong that entire time, well, as much as I could tell looking at his dot! Congrats AD!

Re: Spiders from Mars
Although I took a half-dozen images, it was hard to get the spider to coordinate with the illumination from my helmet light and the iPhone camera. Especially difficult in my punch-drunk tired state at the time. So, this downsampled version is the sharpest image [even tweaked in Photoshop/Camera Raw], which is pretty poor. This guy was about the size of a quarter. Photo taken high above the Gila, about 11PM, Sunday, April 13th. Of course, in a photo, the cool blue-green reflected light off their eye(s) isn't captured...

4th finish was the best yet
Made it thru final push with no problems
Well body gave out before north rim- but I figured that would happen so I was ready with better plan. Overnight worked better I like staying up all night now.

What a great year for Azt 750
I am gonna beat 11 days next year for sure
I am just warming up:)

Looks like Ron found Jill's SPOT, very cool. It may be one of the easiest items to get back when misplaced, mine sat on the Happy Jack segment for over 5 days before having a chance to snag it!!

Mr. Sobo, Brad is about to wrap things up as well. Nicely done. I'm interested in hearing his thoughts about riding in that direction.

What an awesome adventure Mark! So happy that you had a relatively problem free race and just crushed your previous best time, great job!

Brad is done - first backwards AZT 750 in the books.  Congrats to him!

His dot is heading back since he was picked up by Lee Blackwell at the border.

Congrats Brad, stellar work. Going backwards has been on my mind, at least for the 300, but not the full deal. I'm sure the decent down the HWY after the ridge was nice. Rest up!

Congrats Brad.  You're the pioneer on this one, and you have me convinced on the feasibility of the AZT 450b (other 2/3's backwards) option.  Great Job!

Photo: Taken while Arno and I leapfrogged each other across Oracle Ridge. I snapped this image of Arno [Sunday, April 13, ~noon-ish], before he 'tweaked' his bars in a tumble. Considering his totally rigid and SS ride, he's very fast!

Writeup coming, gotta do some life catchup first.

Still hobbling around 4 days later. Missing the trail already, pain memories are fading, ready to ride again. Congrats to everyone who made it through or even attempted this, and to those still out there, savor it! To everyone here, and especially Scott, the Arizona Trail Association, and others who helped make this happen - THANK YOU for the experience of a lifetime.

Looks like Ron Thomson is keeping the wheels turning. Hopefully he gets out of any potential death mud areas before the moisture hits this weekend. Anyone have an idea as to where Jill Hueckman is? Hopefully she's nearing the South Rim. Looks like Kaibab Plateau is gonna get some snow on Saturday.

Great pictures Aaron. For those of you who don't know, Aaron took a massive, full 35mm SLR camera, not some wimpy point and shoot. He whipped that thing out and I was just awestruck...

I'm thinking if we can get him to leave the camera at home, and by default stop taking pictures, he could shave a day off of his times. Just kidding, as someone who as always taken a bunch of pictures while racing/touring, I appreciate the effort.

Looking forward to the write up.
