Congrats to all the 300 racers! What a finish by all! It's great to watch the racers dots this year rather than being a dot like last year. My buddy Dan Holmes is rocking solid in the top ten with single speeder Alice right behind him. Dan texted me last night saying he had to use some motor oil (10W40 to be exact) to get his chain to work properly. Pretty funny. I'm definitely watching Adam on his SS to see if he can do it faster than I did last year. He is currently out of Pine with a couple hours ahead of my time from last year. Wheeee!

Snapped some pics of racers as they wound their way through Gold Canyon, the Superstition's & Apache Trail y'day afternoon. All were in good spirits and looking forward to the cool high country pines after the sweltering days in the desert. The 6 riders I saw were: Dave H, Beth S, Dan H, Alice D, Paul K & Justin D.

2018 AZTR album

Kurt has 8 1/2 hours (34 miles) to reach to the South Rim waypoint to match Neil's split. He'll probably get there in 5 or so.

Denberg is simply flyin'. He's gonna be in for a hot run between Picketpost & Oracle. Deserts are forcasting mid-90's today & tomorrow, then the cooler temps & wind return. Hopefully he can push through the Gila section at night.

Ron Thomson is a few hours ahead of his Gila River split from last year too. Keeping the streak alive for a faster time each year. Go Ron!!

Watching that one, too.  Really interesting choice by Adam to roll/walk all the way to Pine TH through the night last night, then sleep 4 to 5hrs and up at noon-ish to hit it again.

I thought he was going to keep rolling past Pine. Than he stopped, slept and than went into Pine. Interesting choice for sure.

FYI  controlled burns in the Flagstaff area going on.  There was a big one today.  Hopefully will not cloud up the clean air for the riders.  Those roasting in the desert are going to experience some cold temps on the rim.  In a couple days nightime lows are in the 20s two nights.  I think thats a 60 degree difference than the highs.  No moisture though which will keep trails hard packed.  750s are looking strong out there.  Keep it up.

Ron Thomson looks to be walking to Picketpost. I hope he’s able to deal with whatever the trouble is.

John,

Nice pictures.  Thanks for shooting and posting them.

Dana,

Good video of Kurt last night.  Wish I could of joined you.  I thought about driving to Eldon Lookout road last night after work and rooting him on but I thought that might be kind of weird so I blew it off.

Will yell out some positive vibes if I see others passing through Flag over the next few days.

Hanging out with some buddies in Flag tonight, their new roommate is Daniel Dunn who did the 300 on the Surly Krampus! Small world.

I was at the South Kiabab trailhead when Kurt came by today.
He looked pretty good for 660 miles in and with full R2R facing him.
He dropped in at 3:30 and was hoping to push on to the finish without any more sleep.

Knee went south as I tried to go north. Turned into a dehydration nightmare. Icing it in Superior but I am probably out. I'll sleep on it.

Sometimes the Zero Day can to wonders for your frame of mind, let's hope it's enough for the knee.

Kurt is on route. The road is in play due to the snow levels on the North Rim. Typical.

Thank you for the information! I´m new in this race.
It seems that he is going to beat Neil´s 2016 record! (In 2016 Neil also took the same deviation.)
