Did I miss something? Hey Brad, pretty sure Aaron and Denberg = Aaron Denberg...one dude. One fast dude!! Wink

Quite the party at Stateline this afternoon/evening. Both Aussie Dave's getting it done, then Scott a few minutes ago - Congrats!! And shortly Greg, way to go after the rough start!! Hat tip and beers for all!!

Looks like Rob got turned around at the 89A / AZT junction. I guess he wanted some bonus AZT singletrack miles!! He's all sorted out now and heading NORTH!!

Yes, the East wing was the much cleaner last night!

I finished this afternoon at 3:50ish. It was a great run from Jacob Lake with the wind pushing us along.  Also, some of the best singletrack on the entire route along there. I loved that buffed out section along the drainage about 6-8 miles out of Jacob Lake.
Thanks Scott for organising this show and all the other competitors that I met along the route. There are some really great people in this bikepacking scene.
Also, cheers to Aaron D for the lift from Stateline to Page. You saved us another 50 miles AND has complimentary in-flight drinks! Champion!

Fanntastic!  I had a real nice and very welcome SW ripper of a tailwind on the pavement North of the rim,and i have nice memory of that buffed drainage as well.  Thanks for the memory bump.  Great job! Enjoy.

I think that buff drainage is what Kurt and I were calling the half pipe.

John,

My bad.  I was confused and thinking the other Aaron, that makes films, was on route without a tracker.  You are correct.  Denberg is one fast dude.

Awesome Southbound run.

Looking over the history Marc C. was an early finisher.   Cool to see his passion sustained over time.

Good job everyone.

Yep, it's the one the dumps into the Gov't Reservoir area. That's the only super fun, flowy drainage I can think of that doesn't require a climb out!! You keep waiting, expecting it, but it simply opens up as you exit the trees. The Gov't Res. open area is where I ran into the sticky death mud in '16. Not pleasant.

No mud yesterday but that section has been pockmarked by cattle when it was last wet. It was like riding a jackhammer but at least we could ride it.

Ah the sage flats, you either have to deal with the jackhammer or the mud. Full suspension helps and at least it's rideable, miserable but rideable.

Technically Mark won the first 750. Kurt kinda stole the show with his record setting ITT.

that section with the holes took the life out of me for a short time, had to take a decent break at government reservoir after riding SOBO through that lol

Sorry, Mark.  We all knew this could happen.  Perhaps it is why Greg took the trail as well?

I'm going to give the remaining very few riders a heads up.  Sad

Good work Mark.
Interested to hear the snow report and the amount of downed trees.
The trail from Rim to Stateline is one of my favorite (minus down trees).

Just curious so does that mean they can't ride the road in the park boundaries or pretty much the whole thing?

NPS only has jurisdiction to their boundary, which is the first ~9 miles.  ADOT says it is open after that (actually they say the whole thing is open, disagreeing with NPS).

No one is aware of any closure of the road through USFS land.

Through hiker said he stayed on the trail the whole way. Snow patches up 100 feet long, but never very deep.

In Jacob lake
Totally broken down mentally
But i made it got a room gonna stay here eat breakfast even at 8am then finish up
I understand there are rules in the park - but I was treated like a criminal and with a hostile attitude.
I will never spend a dime in any national park ever again that's for sure

On the flip side now i can have a victory party chill out in tour mode
And. Cruise to a record 6th finish in style. Maybe Mr ranger was just trying to help me out lol.

Trail outside of the park is some of the best stuff in season. The stuff in the park is a lot of utility cut fall line.

Not sure what to make of it. I had thought we might see AD get shut down. Once he was through I assumed all was well. Obviously many made it with out issues.
