Jefe is on some sweet single track right now as are the chasers. And sunsets up there are awesome. Gunnison and Crested Butte boys crushing it! Jealous! Fun to watch Neil chase them down!

Indian ridge at night fully exhausted
Could life get any better?

It helps knowing there is a big downhill to the finish- and beerworks

Noob question: Does Neil know how close he is to catching Jefe? More broadly, do the leaders know where their competition are throughout the race?

It's not all downhill though - man that last 1000' climb out of Junction creek is such a killer.

Was just asked to let everyone know that Ben Miller is a scratch.  He is in Gunnison with GI issues.

If I weren't so tired right now I would go meet Jefe at the trailhead.  Instead, I think I'll go to sleep and see him sometime tomorrow. Wink Go Jefe, Neil, Ben!

Congrats to the first riders that are about to finish! Neil absolutely smoked it out there...very impressive riding and focus!

I saw a couple photos of riders/bikes in Silverton, and the bikes were spotless! No mud, no dust, nothing! It seems like it was a great year on the weather and trail condition front. Lucky dogs.

You got to give it up to the guy who reportedly stopped for 90 mins! There's insane and then there's inhuman.

Did Neil really only have 90 minutes of stoppage time in that whole ride? Incredible. That must hurt. And that must feel good.  icon_biggrin

I don't think that's correct, if you look at his tracking points he slept + or - an hour each night. Trackleaders says final time was 3 days 19 hours 54 minutes.

Makes it a little more humanly plausible - well, not really  icon_biggrin

Wow - Congrats to Neil on an incredible race and new record!!!  Simply unbelievable.  A superhuman effort, particularly given that he had a "warm-up" ride the day before!

Congrats also to Jefe and Ben for a great race.  As a rookie, Ben's race was astonishing, hanging with Jefe the whole way.

Good luck to all those still out there racing!

You have to go to each persons individual tracking page, not the whole field. Once you're there click on their last tracking point and there is a line that says "xxx since start"

Yep, that's how to find it for an ITT (as Neil's reload was).  For Grand Depart riders you can just check the leaderboard for their Durango split, and sort by finish order.

Great run by Neil.  Can't believe he almost caught and passed *everyone*.  That's nuts.  From experience, I know that can be a huge boon to morale and motivation.  For various unplanned reasons, I once started the AZT two days behind the grand depart, and having the carrots to chase was helpful, I thought.  Not that Neil isn't silly fast regardless -- now owning AZTR and CTR records.  Damn impressive.

Lots of solid performances out there, nearing Durango.  Denny Newell seems to be speeding up and is eyeing a sub-7 finish, methinks.
