I wonder if anybody will be at Picketpost tomorrow, to see Jack complete the 300 mark.

I was just talking about this to George (Harris) before I refreshed this thread.  Depending on when he rolls through, we may be able to make it out there to greet him.

Howdy.  Just an FYI about Dave Wicks from the land down under.  He had the worst bronchitis I've ever heard when at the Pickett Post trailhead.  Got a little medication from a friend at PP and continued on.  This guy is riding to finish on absolute raw determination.  He could use your good vibes.  If any of you had a chance to ride with him this year, you'd probably agree you've seldom met a more positive, friendly guy. On his way to the river at the moment.  Also Sam A- Wow!.  Way to go!

I just spoke with Mike K.

He crashed near pine and is unsure if he broke or bruised a leg but is unable to continue on.  He's pulled the plug on the race and got a ride home.

Like Bug Shield said, Used some poor judgement about 3mi out of Pine. I'm 95% sure it's a deep muscle bruise & not a hairline fracture. I'll get an Xray tomorrow just to know how long the recovery time will be.
I believe the best call is, if you have to think about a riding a downhill after 12hr plus on the bike DON'T!

Huge Props to Scott & all the trail angles who make this event possible.
A special thanks to the vols resupply the water caches.  I can't even imagine the expense in time & dollars these peeps put in, I bet the ware & tear on the vehicles make their repair shop a lot of $$$

Thanks, Adam!   I feel worked.  Forgot how much the full meal can hurt.  That makes an AZTR-sandwich for me the past 3 years: 750-300-750.

And here's your call! Sorry to hear you had to pull the plug but understood. Healing vibes!

Kinda worried about him. He's still 8 1/2 miles out and crawling. Or am I just being a crazy mom?

That is a tough section. Lots of climbing.  Relatively speaking, he seems to be moving okay. It is also one of the most spectacular sections.  Probably just enjoying the views.

Jalene and I are here at Picketpost waiting for him. He is about 5 miles out, mostly good riding.  We will make sure he is good to go :-)

3 years in a row out in the desert and up in those hills, Intense! Enjoy the recovery time off, well deserved Mike!

Damn Mike, sorry to hear you had to pull the plug but understandable. Was really pulling for you this year, it was a pleasure to watch your SPOT. Wish I could have been out there on the 750 again with you this year.. it's been driving me batty watching this from the armchair! Can't wait for my move to Alaska in a couple of weeks so I can get settled and strap on the bags.
