for people new to banff, and looking for some meal suggestions...

Bfast:    Coyotes (SW/mex)  or Tooloulous (lots of options), or Melissas (trad bfast)
Lunch:  Nester grocery deli, sushi train, or JK bakery
Coffee:   whitebark, or JK bakery
PM:   Walk around and see what bars have what food specials going on.

Banffs first farmers market of the year, is on Wed, on bear street, so go check that out for food options too.   10-5ish

I'll add a recommendation for a couple of my favourites, Wildflour Bakery and Barpa Bill's.

Cheersand good luck all!

Neil - These are the best, pricey but they've got every FSR, road, everything...

In banff
Hanging with Larry melnick
He wanted everyone to know he is having his q and a at elk and oarsman
Thursday 6pm
And he also is feeling a little off still since his crash
They are testing his blood for issues
But he is still as enthusiastic as ever
And motivating me to kill it

Thanks Matt lee
I will be out there thinking of the 2007 Ctr
When we first met and I started this amazing bikepack racing career

Ah good!  Joe Polk is making back to Banff again.  Crazy Larry, Joe and all the nutty racers.  Can't wait to get up there myself.

Yep! I have the Spots with me. Kinda surprised I didn't get yanked aside for further screening with a carry-on full of electronics! I'll be at the Y late, probably 10:30-11ish. I also have more ProGold lube for the racers to grab.

I will leave them at the front desk of the YMCA lodge. Everyone congregates there so it's convenient.

Spot rentals are at the front desk of the YMCA lodge. I have tons of ProGold Extreme samplers in the assembly room. Help yourself! Also, this year's racer giveaway is going to include a Gen3 Spot and a $110 gift cert from Nuclear Sunrise Stitchworks that you can uses towards one of their great bags! Even a single call gets you into the drawing so we want to hear you call in!

Hi, does anybody know if the permitted deviations are obligate or if I should follow the main route GMDR? It looks clear ("permitted") but in description
of route deviation there is written "required" so better to ask than go wrong way. Thanks for answer.

ZybnekR - The Tour Divide "RACE" route is not the same as the ACA GDMBR Maps. It is based on it and 90% of the route follows the maps but for the "RACE" there is a prescribed course with no variations permitted unless you get a text from Mathew Lee stating there is a reroute due to course conditions like fire or floods. For example the ACA maps say the Fernie alternate is acceptable but that is NOT part of the "RACE" route. Conversely the CDT (alt) section and the El Malpais paved (alt) sections in New Mexico are ARE the "RACE" route...not alternates. In addition there are the new sections around Union Pass and Rawlins that are not on the maps at all. So look at maps for long range planning but use the GPS track or pieced together route descriptions for the race.  DO NOT view the MAPS as the "RACE" instructions. Went on a bit because many last year followed the maps and ended up off the "Race" course. Hope that answers your question.

I know the route is changed around Rawlins because of the construction, but why the change around Union Pass?
