Just now seeing this forum.  Yeah - thanks for the pictures Taylor.  Very nice!  And great job Taylor and Chris for flying around that very difficult course.

Hopefully the AML becomes an annual event.  Has anyone heard from Chris Thompkins lately?  Chris did such an amazing job putting this together but I haven't heard anything from him after the race.

Jeff --- I've been so swamped since AML.  I've been meaning to respond to your email for weeks now.  I agree that AML should be an annual event and I intend to do what I can to make sure that happens.

Ruth -- I'm going to try to put all the results together by the end of the year.  I don't expect anyone is going to make another effort in 2012, but you never know Smiley

Thanks Chris...  Sounds great!  Let me know if anything I can do to help.  I'm hoping to be back for the AML 400 next October but probably won't know for sure until next summer.

Thank you Chris for all your work on the Oct 5 aml.  I had a great adventure and did finish ( Ralph from Illinois ) plus I climbed limestone mountain, went to the Mennonite festival, saw some civil war sites and more...quite cold sleeping in the picnic shelter next to the church in Glady.  Here is a question for any rider who did both the aml and tour divide, how much is the difficulty level of the tour divide compared to the climbs of the aml?
Twice as steep climbs? Five times tougher?  Maybe the surfaces are twice as demanding in the Tour Divide?  I have noticed 2750 is longer than 400 miles.
Planning my June 14.

chris, i was ok with the oct date (i agree some areas were prettier) but if there were any options i was going to vote for a little earlier? i just think those wet leaves and wet acorns on the (road) downhills were a little annoying....i have no problem with the weather or the earlier darkness, etc.   i know i can always go myself and do it earlier as an option too.....

Chris, Ruth, and all,
Greetings from coastal Virginia.  I've been meaning to share my AML400 thoughts and provide some AML/Tour Divide comparisons.  My contribution ended up being pretty lengthy, so I started a new topic so I wouldn't detract from this string's AML400 focus:

http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,5299.msg43681.html#msg43681

I've got some pretty good pictures of the AML400 route from Veteran's Day weekend last November.  I don't think they'll make it into this Bikepacking post because they exceed the attachment size.  Got any recommendations on how to post them for the benefit of the AML400 community of interest?

Best regards,
Greg
