Hey everyone. Been away for 24 hours (Marni and my 5th anniversary spent on Missouri Mtn), will be back at the computer trying to catch up with what all has happened!

By the way, Has anyone heard from Jeff Oatley or Tim Stern? Tim's spot has been in Lake City for awhile? I don't think Jeff had a spot? I hope these two finish!!

Todd - Jeff kept going.  I went to lake city.  He didn't want the SPOT.

I agree with this analysis. One of the SPOTS out there on the course is mine and I took it on the GLRide this June. There are times when it spots every 10 minutes just like it is supposed to and then other times it would go 30, 40, 50 minutes without communicating.

Also, notice that where there two sections of SPOT points for Jason seem to come together and what is right in the middle? A pass. Every time I'm in the mountains, passes seem to be logical places to do things like eat lunch, or turn around, or stop to look at the map. If he was lost and made it to the pass and then decided to turn around, then once he was back on track he would have known that he only needed to go up to that pass to log the whole trail.

What I really want to know is if that extra loop was a great ride or a crappy ride. Looked like a great piece of riding.

Excellent question - a very remote spot - looked like good riding!

Sorry, Folks, I was out at the final Thursday Night Time Trail so here’s the calls that came in while I was out!

Tegan Davis called but the call was choppy. Steven Garrett’s Mom called to wish him well. And we have another cut call. Whoever it is they were headed towards Gunnison so they apparently had a problem. Does anyone know who this caller could be?

A spot track marks Chris Newman in Gunnison - he must be out?

Oh man I hope not. I know he was hoping to knock this one off this year.

The leaderboard shows him as scratch after Cochetopa pass and before Carson Saddle but I don't see anything on MTBCast or Joe's tweets.

Owen - you are the bionic man!  It was amazing to watch you while en route.  Talked to Nat and sounds like she has lots of goodies on the way!

Congratulations to all of you no matter how far you made it - what an incredible feat to even attempt such a challenging course.  My husband is determined to join you all next year.

Honestly, this was more fun (and addicting) to watch than the Tour!
Thanks for taking us all along for the ride,
Jenny

trackleaders.com scratched him as once he got out to 114, he engaged his help button and kept riding towards 50. he has his own spot unit so we cannot call his emergency contact to double check. we assume he was signaling for a ride. once he arrived at hwy 50, he powered down his unit (9hrs ago). he's probably sleeping on cotton sheets tonight.

I was with Chris last year when he pulled the plug due to a rear hub issue. He was totally bummed about it at the time. Hopefully he will give it a shot next year.

Hey everyone....I am out. I really got worked over on Sargents Mesa but rode on through the next segment and into the detour. I continued this morning but after 12 miles I just couldn't get into a groove and wasn't sure if I'd make it to LC for resupply. Gunny turned out to be farther than I thought but it IS my favorite town in CO.

I suspect the stress fracture in my arm happened on day one in a minor crash but just thought it was a soft tissue/tendon issue. A lot of people are quick to make excuses but the arm is not one and I only went to get xrays at my wifes request. Obviously I'm not thrilled about throwing in the towel. My bike was fantastic. I think I made huge improvements in my second long distance race in terms of gear selection and prep. I gave it everything I had. The trail is really that hard. Thanks to everyone that put it together. Excellent job reporting Chris. Happy anniversary buddy.

Chris,  Glad you are okay.  Congratulations on riding hard and getting as far as you did!!  I am impressed with anyone who even attempts this.

Looks like Ethan P. is done...Silverton to Durango in a day, impressive.
Nice job! Congrats.

What I meant to say was Silverton to Durango in the *daylight*!

Thought I share the text I just got from Chuck Ray:

"I had to bale thur evening to Lake City for fuel, at that Cataract Ridge start (22 23) as I only had 1k calories for dinner and 12hrs min hiking above treeline.. "hmm, that ain't gona work". thought I cold get from Hwy50 to Silverton in 2 days, started eating more but conserved on Thur, and become convinced that I had msjudged 22 23 as not 7hrs but probably 14! then waited in lake city til morn for travlin food and found out Moxi died over night so took the old route to Silverton and caught a ride. twas awesome!! OMG Owen, wow!"

Note - Moxi is his dog.

Chuck - You did what you thought you needed and pulled it when you realized it - way to be smart about everything!!!

Scott Morris checks in from Silverton as does Jeff Oatley, who broke a pedal. We have Chuck Ray's call-in from below Cataract to explain his detour. Chris Neumann is out (as he mentioned above) and called to explain. And several of Brian Taylor’s co-workers call to wish him well!

Now that I'm done, I'll post with my name instead of Sheryl using my login.

Silverton Forecast:  Sunny. hi of 63, low of 32.  0% chance of precip!  What a great day to be out riding - I bet we see some finishers today with that forecast!  Almost wish I was still out there enjoying the awesome trail and scenery from segment 22 to the end.

Jeff Oatley got his pedal fixed and is leaving Silverton!

I'll be on a long ride today. I'll post later this afternoon.

Marsh Bird called in from just out of Silverton!

I will be out tonight, Folks, so no summary show this evening. We’ll catch up tomorrow!
