is there going to be any info on water sources along the route?

Yep.  Since this is a new route of bikepacker creation, we need to provide that info.

Water isn't too much of an issue on this route, though there aren't too many sources, so you'll need to know them for sure.

Spill!

What you and I talked about at CTR.  Since this is a brand new race/route I thought it might make sense to experiment with it.  Chad seemed to dig the idea, and I don't think anyone currently interested will be opposed.

Stay tuned.

That's good too hear, while I'm not opposed to extra exploring and uncertainty/adventure I do want some more bikepacking experience under my belt before that happens.

GPX! GPX! GPX!  (no pressure of course  thumbsup)
I am going to be going to Flagstaff this weekend to verify a few things on the route, specifically the Wing Mountain option. I hope to have the GPX file for the 250 thereafter. Those interested in the 350 will be doing the proposed route on forest roads out to Grand Canyon. Although none of it has been ridden, it has been verified via satellite images. I only say that because if anyone is thinking about doing it, they should bring a map with them also since I have traced in the sections of the 350-mile GPX.

Hmmm.  Satellite images don't show property boundaries.

I did something similar last year for Trans Utah.  This one little piece of private property, owned by an old ranching family with a "keep off ma land" stance, was only about 1.5 miles of doubletrack, but there is no way around it without a massive detour.  I learned this about 2 weeks prior to go time.  Talk about scrambling...the "detour" was something like 85 miles and 15k' vert.

You don't necessarily have to have ridden the entire route, but to hold a "race" you must know that it is all passable.  That's my opinion, anyway.

Agreed.  250 will all be verified.  But the 350 is perhaps best thought of as an exhibition event this year.  I'm not sure anyone is interested in it, anyway?
