This is last minute, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I finished my CTR ITT a week ago and now I'm already looking for another mini adventure. I wanted to do the Kaibab 125 as a shakedown ride in July before the CTR, but was unable to. Luckily the CTR took mercy on me and let me finish. Anyways, looking to bikepack the Kaibab 125 this weekend (August 18-19). Anyone care to join?

Have you seen the route that goes to Sublime Pt/North Rim after Rainbow, then back on the AZ Trail? toward Jacob Lake?  It might be a better loop than the 125.

Chad,

I've never seen the route. Does it utilize the Kaibab 125 route up to the Rainbow Rim connection? Where does it head to after Rainbow? Your suggested route sounds like it'll have a lot more singletrack and a lot less dirt road riding (which is preferred). Any additional info you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Gracias,

Mark

It takes some dirt roads to get to Sublime Road (great lookout) then heads over to the park (optional pizza and beer) before heading back on AZT. It skips the burn area and stays on the rim by taking the road, and finishes up on some ST to Jacob Lake area. I can send you the GPX and/or can post it up.

James F and I did this route a few years ago:

Great pics. I actually stumbled across maadjurguer's writeup of your Kaibab adventure a few weeks ago. A gps track would be much appreciated. If you could email me or post the track, that'd be awesome. Not sure if you remember me, but I've actually met you before. You let my friend and I crash at your place when you were hosting the Tor De 50 (thanks again by the way).

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hey Markphx (or anyone else), my wife and I are heading out to do a KMC 125/200 hybrid (skipping the 200 portion north of 89A, adding the loop to North Rim) as slowly as possible about September 8-12.  I was wondering if you had any current info on water, especially in the neighborhood of the Rainbow Rim Trail, give or take 20 miles?  Did you by chance take the route south into the Park on 268B?  We will be heading that way and are hoping to find water at Kanabownits Spring 2 or 3 miles before we reach the Point Sublime road.  My Kaibab NF map shows that as a through route, as do the KMC200 route notes, but no other source confirms that route as existing, so I'm digging around.  Anything else noteworthy?  Hope your trip was great.  Thanks in advance for any info.  -Dan
