Morning All, first post here  icon_biggrin

I was thinking of getting a new bike this fall, and prefer mtb geometry so the 2020  Unit X  seemed to fit the bill (though I would have preferred a better group set). The only issue holding me back is the minimal distance between the rear tire and seat tube... looks like the only way around this is to put 2.4’s on it or the grit and grime would wear the paint fairly quickly! Thoughts??

Well, it does have adjustable dropouts, which look to be set about halfway in the second pic, so there's some room to be gained there.

Some of us are on a lot of different forums Smiley

You can run clear tape on the seat tube to protect the paint.
My biggest concern with low clearance is if you ever get into soul sucking mud...
My worst experience ever had me ready to toss my bike off of the road after it happened the 2nd time.

For whatever reason the mud clearance issue always seems to be on the sides, not the tread section of the tires. I think the tread section keeps getting knocked off as you roll, while the sides keep building up. It is worth noting that while more clearance is better, you could be running 23mm road slicks and still clog up a fat bike fork in mud like Bakerjw posted. Sometimes you're just gonna have to walk.

...soul sucking mud...

One of the best descriptive phrases I read in quite a while.
