Hi,

As an alternative to conventional chain drives, belt drives (carbon drive) are getting increasingly popular. This however, only works for internally geared hubs - or singlespeeds/fixies. Would it be safe to use such as belt drive on the great divide race?

I'm pretty sure one of the top guys one year used one with a geared hub. Saw a picture awhile ago. Not sure who though.

Very important to note what kind of IGH he was using (Rohloff).  99% of IGH's are for 'town' use won't stand up to the rigors of singletrack/mountain use, let alone bikepacking the GD
