Hi,
I'm currently doing Work and Travel in NZ and I'm thinking about doing bikepacking for a few months to travel and save money.
I have a few questions as I have no experience in bikepacking.

Which kind of bike would you recommend for bikepacking over a longer period of time ?
Is having a big backpack (65l) making this impossible?I thought about attaching a rack to my bike and distributing the weight of my carriage so I don't have it all on my back.
Is there anything I should be aware of before I start my adventure?

I wanna travel the South Island of New Zealand, from North to South (west coast) and take a tent with me so I'm as independent as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi
There is a lot of great Bikepacking in New Zealand
There is also a Bikepacking New Zealand website https://bikepackingnewzealand.co.nz/
Yes this is very little info there because off a unplayed dismount I had three months ago (recovering ok)

Also far more active is Bikepacking NZ Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/bikepackingnewzealand/

Using a Backpack is ok for a overnight trip, but for longer trips your need to remove all the weight off your back and onto your bike
