Is it easy to get lost out there? I think this is my biggest worry along with a small fear of camping outside (former city boy here and I am sure its much safer than the streets of Chicago). I know its all not marked like a marathon but just had to ask. Either way, HTFU for me, and just get out there and ride.

Is anyone else intrigue by the idea that riding long distances makes it easy on the decision process to go with what your appetite desires. Other than getting away from busy cities and all that nastiness, I like the chow down part.

You're potentially travelling 2700+ miles on badly marked backcountry roads. I hope you know how to use a map and narratives and/or a GPS.

Well I do and I am not signed up to do it but I was just wondering about the route itself.

having lived in Chicago and having someone shot outside of the flat I was living in (and having grown up  in Montana) I can say this...it's unlikely that anyone will shoot at you. as 6th element said using a map will be key and following the route descriptions. I'm probably riding a good portion of the Montana section this summer with a friend. Haven't ridden any of it before and just plan on going out to have some fun. what is your plan? to tour? ride pieces?

Thanks for the reply. Been riding for sometime now and a little bit on the trails. Getting into bikepacking some and probably will do the tour divide race in a couple years after i have moved back to Colorado. Need to acclimate of course.
