Hey Tuck,
Not right in your backyard but pretty close about 600km south in Kananaskis Country you'll find some of the best bike packing in the Western Canada. Grab a copy of Doug Eastcott's book; I found a copy at MEC in Vancouver for half price, $11.
http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Backcountry-Biking-in-Canadian-Rockies-Doug-Eastcott/9780921102694-item.htmlAnd a set of the Gem Trek maps;
http://www.gemtrek.com/recreation_maps.htmlNumber 8 is the main one, 7 and 9 will be helpful as well.
With these two resources you can plan some pretty cool trips.
I did a four day trip at the end of August and had an amazing time. Saw a brown sow and cub right on the trail within the first 50 minutes of my trip, Incredible. Apart from the spectacular scenery the thing that surprised me the most was the variety of riding, you'll find anything you want; miles of gravel grinder roads, technical rocky single track, wide open double track valley trails in the heart of the Rockies to equestrian trails in the foothills. Some unridable pushing up and up some overgrown or lesser used trails which led to some great descents. Jumpingpound to Cox hill is a must. I'm pretty certain this year was the first of an annual pilgrimage to K-country.
Good Luck!
Adam.
