Hi,

Has anyone achieved to intelligently attach/fix/carry a standard (non-inflatable) sleeping mattress to a bike frame? I'm asking because it would add more security to have a mattress which cannot puncture. Thus, I'm looking to carry a mattress of the EvaZote type or the Therm a rest Z-lite.

Would it be necessary to cut the entire mattress in smaller pieces and connect them each time before sleep by means of Velcro or some other kind of snap system?

I've been contemplating the same thing Lucas. I prefer the idiot-proof-ness of a foamie. On bikes with 'flat' bars I've often seen the mattress simply rolled around or under the handlebar bag/harness but on my Fargo the width of the bars prevents this. Other options I've looked at are rolling it 'burrito-style' on trips when I carry a backpack or even adding a lightweight rack to allow a rolled mattress and possibly a drybag moved from elsewhere on the bike.
