I am looking to get a frame bag for my Surly Ogre and would like some opions on full vs partial bags. By partial I mean allowing access to one water bottle. I am tending towards partial as it would be good for day rides as well as bike packing trips. The full frame bag would be cheaper and of course bigger and i could just use awater bladder. Any input much appreciated. Thanks.

I like to have a water bottle to put mixes in, not a fan of mixes in a bladder. You can always put a bottle in the bag.

If you are running stock forks on your Ogre, you can have both a full frame bag and water bottle(s). There are braze-ons on both fork legs and the lower down tube, so you can have a full frame bag and three water bottles-this is how I have my Ogre set up.

I made some aluminium brackets so I could move my water bottle cages a bit.so that I can now fit a tangle bag and two bottles.shimano makes a similar bracket for moving cages around a di2 battery.

+1 on AZTripper's comment. I have a partial bag (Jandd) and access to all 3 bottles, if i choose. If you are going to be on a particularly long stretch and water is a concern i have successfully fit a 2L bladder into one side of the frame pack leaving the other side for First Aid, Snacks, ID and such....
I do like the complete frame packs though - i dig the look and the ability to add some clothes and what not

I have a full frame pack, which maximizes (I think) the amount of stuff I can carry inside the frame. For quick water access I use a King Cage bottle mount on top of my stem and Two Fish bottle cages on the fork.

I made a framebag with a vertical divider and zippered access to the vert section. I can pull the zip oen and fish out my bottle almost as quickly as a bottle cage. It can hold up to a 1.5L bottle. Plus keeps the capacity of a full framebag. Keeps mud off the bottle too.

For me, the full frame bag offers a lot more options for gear and water. With the full bag, you can store a bladder with the hose running out of the bag, a bottle for mixes, and still have room for gear. Having the ability to carry all of your hydration in the frame bag and get it off of your back is a big benefit.
