Glad to see the forum back up, who knows as time marches on, whats old is new, someday maybe people will tire of those less desirable platforms and come back for the OG experience.

Lets hope so! Ive enjoyed reading the trip reports from MikeC, Evdog and others for years. Like you said, hopefully it all comes back around.

For sure could ride in Pisgah out of Brevard, float the french broad river to Hot Springs. From there plenty of trails and dirt roads crossing over in Tennessee.

Thanks for that report on your trip! I was supposed to go to Iceland this May, but for some obvious reasons, I had to report it. Still, I hope I'll be able to go there and follow your tracks next year! Until now, I've now got some daydreaming material with your blog.

I hate to hear that. My sister was also supposed to be heading there in May. I was supposed to be heading to Arizona for a go at the Coconino Loop and had to cancel that as well. Hit me up if you need any beta on the trip.

Ill be doing part of this route in September 2019. Ill let you know how it goes. Ive hiked a bit of the Laugavegur Route between Thorsmork and Skogar. Its burly trail with a lot of hike a bike. Technical skills would come in handy for the singletrack portion for sure. I know you can catch a bus in Skogar if you didnt want to ride all the way to Vik, but you would miss some cool stuff if you skipped that paved section along the coast. Also, I agree with evdog about building in days for weather. When I was there last september we 2 days out of 10 due to high wind and rain. I would have been impossible to ride either of these days. The earlier in summer you go the higher the river crossings are likely to be.

From what I understand Chris is working on maps of the route. Also the route has not received official designation yet like the Azt or CT. That also is in the works. I don't think it has anything to do with SMG only wanting to guide, more that one guy can only do so much.

Nice to see some one on here from my neck of the woods! There is great riding all over Holston mnt and this area in general. From Holston you can connect up to the Virginia Mnt bike trail as well.
