Maybe he was looking to get out of the wind. It was pretty windy coming from the west last night. Looks like where he ended up was at least a little sheltered by a mountian/hill.

Looking at the elevation profile in Trackleaders it looks like there is a significant drop right before you get to Ellensburg. At mile 356 you're at 1618' and then at mile 358 your at 3' and then back up to 1620' at mile 359.
I'm assuming that is just a track anomaly? ....otherwise that mile between 358 and 359 would suck cranking out 1617' of gain.
