Not having a sewing machine hinders making a frame bag. So I decided to make a frame box.
First made a template out of cardboard and duct ape. Then traced and cut out a one piece out of cloroplast.
Just shoved it in for now and using tape to keep door closed. Will use nylon string for attachments.

Forums / Question and Answer / Re: How should you train for bike packing tour?

if your LT is around 157 you do not have a "high" heart rate. my LT is 178 and my max is around 206.
best training for limited time is two interval high intensity rides during the week of fast spin or big gear push(google for how to). this will build strength so you can ride farther without getting tired.
and one long ride on the weekend. concentrate on sweet spot or tempo training(google again) for 70% to 120% of your target.

pogies are great. my hands always roast(which at 10degrees and below is a good thing).
i have ones similar to those and the road bike kind made of neoprene. i don't even need gloves when using these. which is good when i have to take pics or grab food or do finger needed stuff.
i might make some wind screen type with no insulation just for commuting.

seems like a good idea, just that it's really weak. 6 hours to charge batteries that will only charge your device for one hour. but it does run on water. i mean hydrogen. the site is very unclear about specs and what you actually put in this device? i never trust any site that has hard to read text. light grey on white?

from the parts of riding on PCH most of the concern was traffic. if there's a bike lane, your as safe as anywhere else in so. cali(not really...lol), but there are parts that your just on the shoulder and cars are buzzing really close at high speeds while they are texting and checking their rear mirror and the kids in the back are yelling and day dreaming and asleep at the wheel.
please be careful
use a flashy rear light and bright clothes.

i am defiantly a comfort weenie, but i have strong legs as well so it evens out.
many different choices for me depending on trails i am riding. for the TD i have a large tevek sheet that wraps into a triangle using my bike as the upright, two tent spikes on the opposite side to hold down the side and it wraps under me to be a ground cover as well.
this is a good system as it keeps the bike(and me) dry during all night rain and condensation is nill. i leave the ends a bit long to fold down the flaps for protection from side wind/rain.
a simple setup, quick up/down and light enough for me. i inherited a tyvek car cover that was mostly flat. cut off the stretchy ends and then length to fit my bike wrap. it's the same weight as my bigger tent, but easier to set up.

Found these at a local hardware store for $2 apiece. They seem to lock onto the silnylon well, but aren't very compact. Made out of a hard plastic. i have something similar but have not used it with any light weight material. holds good in any wind, but is a bit heavy.
