It has been a scorcher here in Bailey today, and hazy.

Could we see another sub-4 day finish? 10 hours to ride the Matukat road, and the 40 miles from Wellington to Waterton? Man...

I ran into the Pleskos on the tandem while out for a day ride today...

Now I get 'Parent Trap' - that's funny. Wonder who's watching the kids!

The CT must be hard, hard, hard on a tandem. Has anyone ever completed the CTR on one? The Petervarys?

I went with an Old man mountain rack on my...

Love that you used an Old Man rack - old school. I used one of those on some of my first bikepacking rides before the rackless stuff became ubiquitous.

Great ride and thanks for the pics!

Love seeing Jefe and Mark C in there...like the ole days!

Kurt's at the Divide! Can only imagine how pretty it is up there right now. A wall of purple full of lighting to his east (concert delay at Red Rocks right now) and the sun getting low to his west. Weather breaking up and clearing all around him.

Georgia is a such a special place for anyone who's spent any time on the CT.

I will enjoy watching the rest of his ride. He is one of those guys who continues to inspire with his rides...

Was still getting 4g LTE at 12.5k north of Silverton.

Bummer ;-)

If you look at the time it took him to go from Camp Hale to Copper, that might have been his Spot Tracker timing out for most of that 3hr flat line.  It takes 4-5 hours to get up and over Searle and that's about what he did so he actually might not have stopped at all last night!

Yes, I noticed his spot then jumped way ahead...so you're probably right that he didn't stop at all.

He makes it look so easy (as did you!) that whenever he stops at all I'm like, 'something must be wrong, get moving again!'. Ha

Uncharacteristically long break for Kurt this morning. He took a 3hr break last night on the Leadville detour. Hope all is ok. I'd love to see him rolling again!

I think he sent himself a package...looks like he's at the P.O.

Wonder how long Kurt will spend in BV. I'm always amazed at how quickly the fast guys can resupply. I think that's where they really make up time on the rest of us.

He's probably not planning on getting a burger at K's  Wink

And just like that Kurt is off on his own, ridiculously far ahead of everyone.

Just read on FB that Timon has pulled out...

Some points of reference.

- Kurt made it to Silverton at 6:15pm two years ago.  This year he made it to Silverton at 4:45.
- Scott Sidener made it to Silverton at 10:30pm two years ago. This year he made it at 7:15pm.
- Two years ago, 8 people made it to Silverton before 10pm.  This year, about 20 people will have passed through by 10pm.

People are tightenin' things up!

Man, the beauty of being fast.

Kurt and Timon already fueling up in Silverton, and they have a perfectly clear evening/night to power through the high alpine tundra of Coney/Cataract.

...while the rest of the pack will have to deal with chances of showers/t-storms the rest of the week starting tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck everyone, I'll be following. Weather looks perfect for tomorrow. Wish I was toe-ing the line again. Can't believe the last time I did so was in 2013...geez

Yawn.... gotta keep those sponsors happy after all. I'm more interested in Sofi coming back to give the race another go.

I'm sure 'Sofi' has his fair share of sponsors.

Lael trying to win the TD outright is pretty badass...

Lael is marked as a scratch though

Yeah, that is a bummer

Couple singlespeeders getting close to Brush Mountain. Are they slogging through mud yet?

I am in awe of Chris Seistrup - what a gnarly coupla days he just had. Saw a pic of him from this morning in knee deep fresh snow.

Now blazing down Elkhorn Rd with replenished supplies into clearing, wide open skies with a soaring spirit approaching the golden hour...

...that's how I like to imagine it anyway  Wink
